Historical Notes
I enjoy the opportunity to insert historical figures into my stories. Spies & Sweethearts features two real people who lived and served during WWII:
Allen Welsh Dulles (whose brother John Foster Dulles was Eisenhower’s Secretary of State and the namesake of Dulles Airport in Virginia) graduated from Princeton University and immediately entered the diplomatic service. His first assignment was in Berlin, Germany, and he was transferred to Bern, Switzerland shortly before the beginning of World War I. He earned his law degree in 1926 and went on to become legal counsel to the delegations on arms limitations at the League of Nations. In October, 1941, Dulles was personally recruited by William Donovan for the Office of Strategic Services and stationed in Bern, Switzerland. H
