Kieran **** Three Weeks Later **** The Oregon heat… It is nothing like the Louisiana heat during the summer months. As I drive on this one-lane, dirt road, I feel the coolness in the air mixed with the warmth of the sun. It blasts through the rolled-down windows of the SUV, blowing my curly hair from me. It also drags the saltiness from the ocean to my nose, which smells a lot better than muggy water. And then, there is the smell of my mates being pulled and pushed away from me depending on the direction of the wind. It helped to ease the burden weighing heavily on my mind, especially while dressed so formally in a beige skirt and a light blue blouse.
