I woke up to a foul smell that immediately jolted me awake, and I quickly sat up and glanced around. "Wait, where am I?" I asked myself in confusion, realizing that I was in a stable surrounded by horses. No wonder there was a foul smell; I noticed I was next to a pile of horse dung. "Eww, wait. Am I dead? I'm sure I am, and this must be hell. No wonder it smells awful," I irritably questioned myself. Even though I was still disoriented, I chose to leave the stable. When I stepped outside, I was even more surprised to realize I wasn't wearing any clothes, so I hurried back inside. Luckily, I stumbled upon two sets of clothes, albeit a bit old but still acceptable. After dressing, I finally left the stable, walking along the fields and feeling like a lost soul. "It feels like I'm in the province," I remarked in surprise. Fortunately, I encountered an elderly man who appeared to be a farmer. "Can I ask you something?" I inquired. "Of course, miss. What can I do for this beautiful lady?" he replied, his Tagalog seeming quite deep, but I thanked him nonetheless for the compliment. I thought only my parents would say something like that. "Um, where am I?" I asked the old man. "It seems like you're lost, hmph. You're in the Stone Mist District province, miss," he smiled back at me. "Stone Mist?" I furrowed my brows, unfamiliar with the place he mentioned. "Where in the Philippines is that?" I asked him, clueless once again. "The Philippines? What's that? You're in the Kingdom of Divinus, miss," the old man replied, leaving me puzzled. What?! What did he say? Kingdom of Anus? "What was that again? Where am I?" I asked, and suddenly, he seemed to scrutinize me from head to toe. "You don't seem like a Divinian," the old man hesitated, as if he were afraid of me. "Are you from another continent? A spy!" he shouted, pointing at me. "A spy? Oh no! You're mistaken," I tried to calm him down because he was causing a scene. "Soldiers, there's a spy here! Capture her!" he yelled, sending me into a panic. Even though there was no one else around, I quickly ran away and into the dense forest. "Where am I really? What place is this?" I questioned in my mind. [System Searching...] I stopped when I heard someone speaking and looked around but saw no one. Am I being followed? But it seems like there are other people around besides me. Am I going crazy? [You're not insane.] It replied, making me look around again. "Who are you? Come out wherever you are hiding!" I grabbed a small branch and pointed it into the void. Seriously, a branch? What if it was a person? You'd be in trouble. [I'm Great Maven, and I'm your personal system... You can hear me because I'm inside your mind.] it answered. "Wait, do you think I'd believe you?" I challenged it. If someone saw me, they would definitely think I'm going crazy. [File reading... Lethe Malfori, eighteen years old, height 5'5", weight 45 kilograms, love interest-] "Okay, okay! I believe you now. Maybe there's something you can't say," I interrupted. "If you're in my mind, can you explain what happened to me and why I'm here in the Kingdom of Anus - oh! Whatever it's called, and also translate your words into Tagalog." [Language transferring...] I smiled when I heard that. [Lethe Malfori committed suicide and died in the world they call Earth. You were given a second life in this world because someone wished for your salvation.] it answered my first question, making me wonder who could have wished for my salvation. "Could it be him?" I wasn't sure if my guess was correct, but I had one person in mind who I think might be the one Great Maven was referring to. [Pertaining to your second question, you have been reborn in the world of Adventurers.] "What kind of world is this?" I asked again. [Searching for information... Adventurer World, this world is like a role-playing game where you can do things that are impossible in reality.] "What else?" I inquired. [In this world, an adventurer can increase their tier through fighting and training.] "Well, what is tier?" I asked, relentlessly bombarding it with questions. [Tier is the ranking system for adventurers here, determining how strong they are.] "If I've been reborn into this world, does that mean I'm already an adventurer?" I asked. [You're correct.] I realized I shouldn't have changed its language setting. "In that case, what's my rank?" I curiously asked. [You are already a 9th Hamlet Iron Rank. For any further questions, you can just say 'Laxo'.] "Okay, Laxo," I mentioned as it instructed, and suddenly, a projected hologram trackpad appeared in front of me. [First, search for your question on the research button.] it said, showing that even the system had some laziness. Like mother, like daughter. I immediately searched for a map, realizing it was like Google where I could find everything I needed to know. It confirmed I was indeed in the Stone Mist District and inside the Kingdom of Divinus, not Anus. I also noticed some numbers on the side, with a symbol of a coin and the numbers were in billions. I slumped onto the grass as I realized the numbers I saw were worth a lot of money. I didn't mean to change the hologram trackpad. "What are these? There are so many items listed in my suit list," I said as I picked up something from the hologram, expecting my hand to pass through it as it seemed like a projector, but to my surprise, when I withdrew my hand, I was holding the item. "Amazing!" I exclaimed in wonder before looking around as someone suddenly spoke. I continued to learn about the Adventurer World system; currently, I was at a low rank and needed to level up. I also signed some documents on the hologram trackpad, as it was the only way I could make purchases. "This is better than Earth, huh," I remarked. "Are there any clothes or something I can wear in my suit list? It's full of weapons and potions. I'm starting to feel ridiculous," I asked before hiding the hologram trackpad. I stood up from where I was sitting and clenched my fists. This was a new life and an opportunity given to me, so I shouldn't waste it. I shouldn't repeat the mistakes I made before; I needed to change and embrace the life waiting for me in this world. "I'll live in this world! I'll change myself! I can become a strong adventurer!" I confidently shouted. "Ah, miss?" I looked up to see a man appearing in front of me, smiling at me while carrying a sack. "Hi," I greeted him with a smile, but the smile on his face suddenly turned into concern. "I saw her, soldiers!" the man shouted to his companions. Shit!
