His eyes went wide with the realization that I was neither a rogue or Farrell; he was beginning to realize they’d lied about me. So I continued "My father and your Alpha have a treaty in place for peace and equal prosperity for both packs. The seal to that deal was my blood. My father forced me to marry your alpha." I spat at that last part "So again no... I am not a rogue... or farrell I am the daughter of a despicable alpha and forced wife of another man just as volatile. I am not here by my own choice or because of something I did wrong." I said, trying to adjust myself against the wall in an attempt to ease the pain in my ribs a little. "And when your alpha... Alan over throws my father as you heard earlier I will be a dead daughter of a despicable man and forced wife of a volatile alpha but not before they take what they want from me" I said softly as I closed my eyes a chuckle escaping my lips. Using my free hand I wiped the blood off my lip wiping it on the end of my dress. Slowly I opened my eyes, meeting the soft hazel eyes of Caleb.
Caleb was lost in thought for a while just staring at me. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening them looking at me. Searching to see if maybe I had lied about anything. I could see his morality was getting the best of him. He was fighting an internal war whether to believe me or not. Finally deciding he could trust my word he reached into his pocket and pulled out several protein granola bars and held them out for me. I looked at him, forking my eyebrow. He nodded his head and shook the bars again. I stood up slowly using the wall to brace myself and went to him. Placing the top of the protein bars in my hand he said quietly so no one else could hear "These are protein bars they use to help us rebound from training and in the field to assist us with healing and gaining our strength back faster. I can not free you right now but I can help try and strengthen you, "he leaned down to meet my eyes. "If any rumors about the silver fangs warrior princess are true then your combat and stealth skills are truly unmatchable so strengthening you alone will help aid you in escape." He said gently letting the protein bars fall the rest of the way into my hand. I smiled slightly and nodded "thank you caleb" I said softly my eyes laced with tears.
Over the next few months Caleb continued to sneak in and give me granola bars, Dried jerky, vitamins and other snack foods easily hidden to the naked eye. Ensuring to bring me enough to see me through til "feed day" the the kitchen worker continuously made me a bigger meal hidden within the tin foil. I was regaining my strength quickly. Now I could feel Zarah, my wolf more pronounced though she is still too weak to speak to me. She is still getting stronger. It was as though she was just out of reach like there was a wall she was stuck behind. Caleb snuck in the door silently closing behind him. I turned to see him smiling at me "You are looking much better today" he said, pulling out several granola bars and jerky from his cargo pants and handing it to me through the cell bars. I took them and quickly walked to the mat hiding the food items under it. "That is all thanks to you" I said, turning around just in time to see him smile at me. I returned the smile. "Your face is glowing today, has your wolf woke up yet?" He asked. I frowned "No, not yet. honestly...It's weird I can feel her, you know, Like, she’s right there just out of reach. She’s stronger than she has been since arriving here. But it’s like a wall is separating us and I just can’t reach her to wake her up.” I said “she is stronger but I guess still too weak to wake up and speak to me” I said shyly “Well" he said looking at me sympathetically "Scarlett we will just have to give her more time to keep getting you stronger so she will to” he said with a small smile.
I gave him a small smile "I did want to ask you about the kitchen worker that brings my meals. She's been sneaking better foods to me, things like meats and vegetables hidden inside the bread is the kitchen worker in on this too" I asked looking at him questionably. "Who? Marie? She is my sister and after what happened with the captain I asked her to give you something more substantial to aid in your healing as he had broken some ribs. Then later that night when we got home we spoke I told her everything. She’s angry for you about this and believes in justice and morality. so she agreed to help me strengthen you to help you" he said softly. "Right now we are trying to come up with a way to help you wake up your wolf so we can get you out of here. But we have to be careful the alpha has spies everywhere and though I don’t care to die to save an innocent life I can not risk my sister's life" he said softer this time so only I could hear him. I gave him a slight smile and mouthed "Thank you, Both of you" Caleb gave me a smile before leaving me alone.
Several more months came and went Caleb continued his daily visits. Our bond grew more. He was now like that whitty little brother. Making me laugh with his snarky little comments and sarcasm. The little brother I never knew I needed and then Marie was like that stubborn hard headed baby sister I have always wanted. They continued to sneak me better food portions and give me snacks and small conversations in the passing, vitamins to aid my healing and strength. He even snuck in a small sealable container for water for me to keep refilling at the old sink I could barely reach. The bond between us grew deeper. I've never had a sibling's before but Caleb and Marie felt like family.
