Aurelia turned away and kept walking. “I don't want one that obedient.”
Theodosia immediately withdraws her hand from Thalric's spine, her expression shifting from predatory delight to understanding amusement. She nods approvingly, tapping her chin as she reassesses Aurelia.
"Ahhh, I see! My apologies, darling, I misread your appetite. You don't want a broken doll; you want someone with spirit." Theodosia's grin turns sharper, more genuine. "You want someone who has to be tamed, not someone who has already been hollowed out. You want the thrill of breaking them down yourself, don't you? The resistance makes the surrender so much sweeter."
She gives Thalric a dismissive pat on the shoulder, and the elf rises to his knees, still perfectly composed but clearly no longer the focus.
"Thalric is perfect for a collector who wants a piece of art, but you... You want a pet that bites back before it licks your palm." Theodosia turns on her heel, her hips swaying hypnotically as she leads Aurelia away from the elves toward a darker, more imposing structure made of black iron and heavy oak.
"If you want obedience that feels earned, we need to move away from the nobles and the pretty boys who have already given up." Her voice drops to a husky register as they approach the entrance to the Unstable area. "Here, we keep the ones who fought. The warriors who refused to kneel, the rogues who thought they were too clever to be caught, and the monsters who think their strength makes them untouchable."
She pauses before a cage reinforced with enchanted silver bars. Inside, a lean, muscular elf with dark hair and scarred shoulders is snarling at a passing guard, his hands bound in heavy manacles, and a collar at his throat. His eyes burn with pure, unadulterated hatred.
"Now, this is what I'm talking about. That one there? That's Kaelen. He's a former ranger, a survivor. He's been screaming defiance for three days straight. He's proud, he's stubborn, and he's absolutely filthy in every sense of the word." Theodosia grins wickedly at Aurelia. "He won't obey because he's programmed to; he'll obey because you've made it impossible for him to do anything else. You can break that pride piece by piece, until the only thing he can think about is pleasing you."
She glances at Aurelia meaningfully. "Does a little bit of fire interest you more than a quiet candle?"
Aurelia leans close to the bars, her small body looking tiny next to his hulking, growling form. “He’s a bit too wild for me.”
Theodosia bites her lip, her tail hidden beneath her silk skirts, twitching with amusement. She hums thoughtfully, pacing a small circle around Aurelia like a cat considering its next move.
"Too wild, too broken... you're a tricky one to please, Aurelia, but I love a challenge." She giggles, tapping her chin. "You want that sweet spot, don't you? The perfect middle ground. Someone with enough dignity to make submission meaningful, but not so thoroughly broken that there's no fun left in the chase."
She leads Aurelia away from the snarling cages, moving toward a section that feels more intimate but still as dangerous. The torches here burn with a soft blue flame, and the stone walls are lined with velvet tapestries. This is the section reserved for those who possess both beauty and a dangerous edge.
"Let's try something different." Theodosia stops before a display that isn't behind bars, but rather behind a delicate lattice of enchanted thorns. Inside is a chamber that looks like a luxurious bedroom. "You mentioned vampires earlier. And you mentioned wanting someone who knows how to cook, but with a bit more... bite."
She gestures toward a figure lounging on a divan inside the thorn lattice. He is tall, pale, and devastatingly handsome. His hair is black as raven feathers, and his features are sharp enough to cut glass. He wears nothing but a loose silk robe that hangs open, revealing a lean, corded physique and his large member displayed proudly. Unlike the snarling ranger or the kneeling noble, this vampire looks bored, as if he's waiting for something interesting to happen.
"This is Valerius," Theodosia whispers, her voice dripping with honey. "He's an ancient bloodline, fallen from grace. He's not 'wild' like a beast, but he's certainly not 'obedient' like a dog. He has the pride of a predator. He knows he's dangerous, and he knows he's beautiful."
Valerius raises his crimson eyes to meet Aurelia's. There is no submission there, only a cold, calculating interest. He smirks slightly, a flash of fangs visible.
"He's been trained in the finer arts, cooking, music, poetry, because he knows that a true connoisseur enjoys the experience as much as the meal." Theodosia leans closer to Aurelia. "He won't obey because you told him to; he'll obey because he decides you're worth his attention. There's a game to be played here. You'll have to charm him, dominate him, or perhaps... corrupt him. He's sophisticated, he's skilled, and he has all the fire you're looking for in bed, but it's controlled. Controlled enough to be dangerous, but controlled enough to be yours."
Theodosia grins. "How does a predator in silk sound compared to a wolf in chains?"
Aurelia's eyes travel slowly over Valerius, from the open silk robe to the sharp line of his jaw, and a small smile spreads across her face. "Oh, he is delicious," she murmurs, almost to herself. She lingers another moment, then turns her back on him entirely, as if closing a book she has already decided not to buy. "But can we go back to the ranger?"
Theodosia freezes mid-purr, her eyes widening before she bursts into a fit of genuine, delighted laughter. She clutches her stomach, nearly doubling over as she cackles at Aurelia's sudden reversal.
"Oh, darling! You absolutely terrify me, and I love it!" She wipes a tear from her eye, grinning wickedly at the vampire, Valerius, who has narrowed his crimson eyes in obvious offense at being dismissed so quickly. "Sorry, Val~. Looks like you've been passed over for something a bit more... feral."
Theodosia turns back to Aurelia, her tail lashing with excitement. She grabs Aurelia's hand, eager to hurry her back toward the iron bars.
"Back to the ranger it is! You're a creature of contradiction, Aurelia. I love it! You want that raw, unbridled resistance, but you want to be the one who tames it." She practically drags Aurelia back through the marketplace, weaving past vendors until they reach the heavy, imposing gates.
The sounds of snarling, shouting, and clanking chains grow louder as they approach Kaelen's cage. The elven ranger is still there, his dark hair matted with sweat, his lean muscles tensing as he paces his cramped space like a caged panther. When he sees them approaching, he spits on the floor and snarls directly at Aurelia.
"Back to see the stray, princess?" he rasps, his voice rough from days of screaming. "Come to watch a real man suffer?"
Theodosia ignores his defiance entirely, stepping up to the enchanted silver bars. She taps them with a nail, producing a sharp ring. "Now, now, Kaelen. Manners. We have a very special customer here who thinks you're worth the trouble."
She turns to Aurelia, her voice hushed and conspiratorial. "There he is. Raw, angry, and absolutely convinced he'll never bend. He's not broken, he's not bored, and he's certainly not polite. He's exactly what you asked for: a challenge."
Theodosia produces a small iron key from her cleavage, dangling it temptingly before Aurelia. "Since you've shown such... specific taste, how about we do this? I'll open the gate. You can step inside and try to command him. See if that pretty Fae voice of yours can cut through that thick skull of his. If he bites you, well... that's part of the fun, isn't it?"
She grins, waiting to see if Aurelia is brave enough to face the fire head-on. "Shall I unlock him for you, sweetcheeks?"
