Don't Block

Ralph's POV I clicked send on another message. But the next moment, a red exclamation mark appeared next to the message. The bright red mark felt like a needle piercing me and my fingers involuntarily clenched and then slowly relaxed.I slowly exhaled the air that had been trapped in my chest, put down my phone, and tried to keep myself from being affected by the wave of anxiety as much as possible. I opened the file that was placed next to me. There was a knock on my door.I didn't look up, turned to the next page, and said, "Come in."The person outside pushed the door open and said, "Master Ralph..."She spoke while trying to calm her slightly hurried breath, probably from running.I looked up and asked, "What's the matter?""Miss Wren...she's here.""What?" I stood up suddenly, and the chair made a harsh sound as it scraped against the floor."Yes, she's here. She should be downstairs..."I immediately turned around and looked out of the floor-to-ceiling window behind me. Wren had just gotten out of the car and was standing next to the garden. My gaze was fixed on her and I couldn't look away. But then I suddenly realized that the car next to her was very familiar. It was my father's!And my father was already standing next to her, apparently talking to her about something. For some reason, a strong feeling of unease surged in my heart.I immediately turned around and ran downstairs past the maid at the door.I ran down from the fourth floor to the first floor in just a few steps, and then I saw Wren, who was following behind the maid. They stopped at the door of the guest room on the first floor. Fortunately, she hadn't gone in yet."Wren!"Wren paused when she heard my voice and turned to face me. There was a hint of panic in her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure. Her expression turned to pure digust."Wren, why did you...come here?" I asked in disbelief. She looked away and said coldly, "That is none of your business."My heart tightened, and I took a step forward, but Wren took two steps back with my movement. My heart hurt like it was being pricked by a needle again. I quickly stopped moving. "Miss Wren," the maid next to her suddenly spoke up and handed her the key in her hand. "This is the key to the room. If there are any problems later, just find the servant in the living room."She nodded and her aura softened. "Thank you.""I'll leave now. Have fun here." The maid lowered her head and turned around to leave.Wren didn't look at me again, turned around, inserted the key into the lock, opened the door, and started to walk in."Wren," I hurriedly called out to her. "Can we...talk for a bit?"I clearly saw her frown, which made me feel uncomfortable. She looked at me and asked, "Talk about what?""Talk about..."She suddenly interrupted me, "Talk about why you slept with my best friend? How long have you been together behind my back? When did it start?""That's not it, Wren.” She shook her head and said coldly, "There's nothing to talk about. I don't want to hear your lies.""We didn't...Wren, I really don't know what happened that day...""Wow, the first floor is really lively today."I paused and turned my head to see Hayden standing behind me. He leaned against the wall with his eyes full of malicious intent, which made me feel disgusted. His gaze shifted from Wren to me. "Right, brother?"I looked at him coldly. "For someone who doesn't study or work hard, you really have a good sense of whether it's lively or not."He didn't care much and laughed. "Thanks for the compliment." He looked at Wren again. "Did you miss me? You came back so soon."I gritted my teeth and warned him in a low voice, "Hayden, watch your words.""Why?" Hayden looked at me. "Did I say anything that crossed the line?"The sound of the door closing heavily echoed, and when I looked over again, Wren had already entered the room, and the sound of the lock clicking could be heard from inside.I walked quickly to the door, wanting to knock but not daring to. "Wren..."Wren's voice came from inside the room, somewhat unclear. "Don't call me.""..." I clenched my fists and stood still at the door. Suddenly, Hayden walked over and squeezed next to me. He raised his hand and knocked on the door twice. "Why did you close the door? Can't I come in too, Wren?""Of course not," Wren's voice sounded a bit distant, probably walking away from the door. "What makes you think you can come in?” Hayden paused, then shrugged and laughed, "Okay, it seems that Ralph is making it inconvenient for you to invite me in here.""Hayden," I tried to suppress my anger and warned him, "Don't disturb Wren."He raised his eyebrows. "Listen, Ralph, you sound good, but aren't you the one who disturbs her the most?"My body trembled.Hayden laughed again, raised his hand and knocked on the door again. "I'll come find you later, little beauty." Then he turned and left. The world became quiet again. Hayden's words kept ringing in my ears, but this time I rarely didn't feel like he was wrong. It seems now it was me that bothered Wren now instead of Hayden."Wren?"No response."I'm sorry," I whispered, "I didn't mean to hurt you like this."Still no response. My body seemed to be rusted to the floor and couldn't move at all, so I stood at the door for a long time like this.Until my toes become numb, I continued, "I will not bother you like this again, Wren, but at least...can you not block me?"As expected, there was still no response."I'm sorry."I turned around and walked away quietly. When I reached the staircase, I gripped the handrail tightly, my knuckles turning white. I had a clench my teeth to stop the overwhelming feeling in my chest from spilling over.
