16: Cave
“Beyond the City there is nothing. No light, no love, no food.”~ Exodus 7:22
It was over an hour of shivering and holding fingers under armpits before the two of them could finally get a fire going inside the little cave passage they'd found for themselves. Dry wood was scarce this far up, except for some vines growing along the cave walls but, when Davey reluctantly cracked out the propellant from his few remaining bullets, save one, they went up nicely. "Fritz" they lay tied up against one of the cave walls, head bandaged with a strip of Frank's clothing. His soggy jacket in the cold weather was a death sentence to wear out anyway. Frank hugged his arms as Davey widdled at a twig broken off from what little kindling they'd gathered. "I hope that train's ok."
