"Hey, I'm Rouse," I simply replied.
"She's a friend of my moon," Edward clarified, "she doesn't touch herself," he added with a tone of voice that was too serious and authoritarian. Apparently they had known each other for a long time for Edward to speak to him and warn him that way.
"Of course, alpha." He inclined his head in respect, then returned his gaze to me. I'm Luke.” He held out his hand in front of me. I was about to shake her hand when Abby's shriek made me jump up off the couch and look around for her.
-You are a pervert! How can you say that so openly? she asked him. I had turned my attention away from them to focus on Luke. Apparently Edward said something very ugly or embarrassing to have put Abby that way.
"It's the truth," Edward defended himself without the slightest trace of regret.
"It can't be, I'm leaving here," she told him, shaking her head.
"You won't go."
"Watch me do it," she confronted him, heading towards me. Let's get out of here, Rouse.
-What happened? —I asked, her face was too flushed.
-I'll tell you later. But now we must go.
"I'm not going to let you go," Edward told her, coming towards us.
Abby didn't say anything for what seemed like an eternity, my eyes shifting between the two of them holding each other's eyes dangerously.
Neither the others present mentioned anything, everything was silent until Abby announced something unexpectedly:
"Look, a clown!" my friend exclaimed suddenly, pointing to something behind Edward. He, so stupid, turned to see. At that moment, Abby grabbed my hand tightly before pulling her away and starting to run.
"Hey! Edward yelled, we weren't even across the room when he stopped Abby by her arm. He held it so strong and so suddenly that I let go of it, and without being able to stop in time my hip hit something, the only thing I could hear afterwards was the noise of something falling on the floor, I fixed my eyes there and I could see a broken porcelain vase.
It had shattered.
"It just can't be".
I backed away, hands covering my mouth, my eyes wide with shock. I had broken something. Something that, no matter how vase it was, I was sure it must cost a lot.
"Sorry," I uttered in an inaudible tone. But to my luck, Hazal managed to hear me since he had quickly approached where I was most embarrassed. He leaned down to touch the pieces of the broken vase.
"It belonged to my great-grandmother, it has lasted centuries in this house, it is not as important to me as it is to him," he let me know in barely a whisper. But since I was close to her I managed to hear her perfectly.
"It's an irreplaceable object," I spoke lowering my arms to my sides, "I really didn't want to.
-It's your fault! I heard Abby scream. If you hadn't stopped me right now we wouldn't be in this situation.
"I wasn't the person who bumped into the vase," Edward replied.
"You have to go," Hazal suddenly said to me. She got up and turned to look at me, "you have to go," she repeated fearfully, my face showing all the bewilderment in the world. Why was she saying that to me?
"Wait, we can fix this," Abby chimed in, coming to stand next to me.
"Nothing can be done," Hazal told him wistfully. He comes back today and they told me that he hasn't had any luck finding her, so he's worse than ever, her mood is worse than ever,” he clarified. If he finds out that the vase of one of the most important people in his life has been broken... I don't know what he could do to you —she spoke to me. I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat. My heart began to race with the fear that had gripped me.
“We have to go, but not before removing the evidence. We need a shovel! Abby exclaimed, looking in different directions for said object.
"I was the only one to blame. I need to go back to my parents,” I told her, stopping the absurd search for her.
"Not you," Edward warned Abby when he saw that she was about to say something to me.
"I have to go alone. I'd like you to come with me, but she won't be able to,” I told her sincerely.
She remained silent, her face turning sad like mine. Then she suddenly spoke again.
"Look, another clown!" Abby yelled pointing at something behind Edward, he fell for the joke again and turned to look.
Abby grabbed my hand and again we started running.
“I won't let you go to jail so young,” Abby told me as we ran.
I heard a curse and a laugh behind us. But I didn't turn around to see who owned what, instead I quickened the speed of my steps so that Edward wouldn't stop us again.
The door to the house was unlocked, so our escape from the inside was a success.
We went down the steps at full speed.
"Stop them, they're trying to escape!" We heard Edward yell an order, probably from the doorway. The guards quickly became alert, began to approach us—Catch them! One broke Grandma's vase, the redhead," she clarified, accusing me.
"She's a great-grandmother!" We heard Hazal correct him.
"He broke great-grandmother's vase!" she yelled, correcting herself.
From one moment to the next we had many men surrounding us, we had no more escape so we stopped.
"In the end I think I'll go to jail," I tried to joke.
"I don't think so," Abby told me, pulling me along to start running in the direction of the huge black gate that was being opened at that moment. Hopefully we'd make it out before it closed again.
Suddenly, I felt a tug, someone had grabbed Abby by the arm. I looked at her and saw how she struggled to get out of her grasp.
