Nikki’s P.O.V
-------Five Years Later---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Mommy have you seen my dolly?”
“No, Sweetie go and ask Hanzo. You were playing with him earlier, remember?”
“Okay mommy.” Lena ran of in the direction of Hanzo’s house.
That day I left my pack and became a rogue was the day that changed my life.
---Five Years Ago--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ash was at full speed racing as far away from the pack territory as he could.
Ash and I spent the next few hours riding, we stopped to camp for the night at the side of a lake. I dismounted Ash and lead him over to drink.
“What have we got ourselves into Ash?” Ash stopped drinking and looked at me dead in the eyes “Okay, okay, what have I got us into? Happy?” Damn this horse has an attitude.
I leave Ash and gather up some fire wood. Before long I got a fire going. I sat down and started to take in my surroundings.
The lake was glimmering in the moon light. It was quiet the only sounds that could be heard where from small animals running through the woods, the sounds of birds calling one and other. The lake was lined with pine trees along the bank. Fireflies dancing above the water’s surface. The tall grass and flowers swaying the in the gentle breeze. It was beautiful and peaceful.
The night air was starting to get to me so I stood up and took a blanket from the saddle bag, wrapped myself up and sat back down at the small fire. Ash came and laid down behind me.
----3 weeks later---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn’t notice that I had fallen asleep. I wake up to my stomach growling, I sigh “Looks like we have to go on a hunt Ash” I got up from under the blanket and walked over to the bag strapped to Ash’s saddle to get an energy bar. When I reached in to grab the energy bar, I grabbed my phone instead.
“Oh yeah, I forgot I turned this off.” I had turned my phone off the first night we got here. I turned my phone back on and realised what todays date was. “s**t!!!” I screamed “f**k the hunt Ash we need to go in to town Now!”
Thankfully there is a human town close by. I mounted Ash and hauled ass in the direction of the human town. We stopped near the woods edge, I dismounted Ash and tied him to one of the trees.
“Ash I’ll be right back, okay?” Ash grunted
I took out my phone turned it on again and used it to find the nearest drug store.
Two blocks past the The Fair Banks Motel was the Smiths drugs store. I walked inside. I went through the aisles to find what I was looking for. Finally I found it, I grabbed the first one that seemed the easiest to use. I headed towards the clerk at the till, He was an old man mid 60’s I’d guess. He had thick framed glasses, Balding hair, slender. He was wearing a white coat, short sleeve plaid shirt with brown pants.
“Is this everything?” He asked “Is there anything else you need Miss?”
“No, Sir this is everything.”
“Well it’s two for one if you would like another one”
“If that’s the case, two would be best.” I said and went to grab a second one.
“Okay miss, your total is 25.99. Cash or card?”
“Card.” I said and I paid using my credit card.
“Thank you, come again” the man called out to me as I left his store.
I walked back to Ash at the woods edge, on the outskirts of town.
But when I reached the tree that I was certain Ash was tethered to he wasn’t there. Something isn’t he wouldn’t leave if I hadn’t told him to. I wander through the woods looking for Ash and calling out to him.
“ASH, WHERE ARE YOU!!??”
“Damn it, I feel like I’m in a Scooby Doo movie.”
I was heading towards our camp in hopes that Ash was there. But as I was nearing the camp.....
“STOP! WHO ARE YOU!?”
