Mum kept her word, she never spoke to Cameron again. Even though we never saw him again, I kept getting a weird feeling, like he was watching us. I was paranoid that he was stalking us; some nights it sounded like someone was living in our roof. Things weren’t where I left them, they would be moved around.
My bike would be moved from the back shed, to the front yard. When I know I had put it away. The bins would get knocked over, the rubbish would be all over the front road and yard. So Harry and I would have to put gloves on and go pick it all up.
Even things inside the house, they would be moved around after we went out. We came home to picture frames on a lean, dishes used that we hadn’t touched. Things were getting weird. Mum would always brush it off if I mentioned it.
The best thing about Cameron being gone, was that Ben and Mum had become really good friends, he was over a lot. I was so happy when he was around, Harry was too. He would bring Mum flowers, and shout us dinner. He helped around the yard and fix things around the house.
One night while Ben was over, he had shouted us pizza for dinner and we were watching a movie, when Mum got up and went into the kitchen. She called out to Ben,
“Ben, Can I get your help with something please?”
“Of course” Ben replied hoping up and walking in there,
I was curious why they were in there, they never kept anything from us. I could help the thought in the back of my mind that Mum was going to get back with Cam.
“I’ll be back in a minute Harry, stay here buddy, and watch T.V” I whispered to him,
“Okay, don’t be too long Pete” Harry said,
I stood outside the kitchen and listened to them talking,
“Are you sure its Cameron?” Ben whispered worriedly,
“Yes I am Ben. Too many things have been happening. Just small things, like a random flower on the door step, or the fact my underwear has slowly gone down. How about when I have come home from work, and my clothes are laid out on my bed for me to have a shower. A towel, A Nightie, Some undies, A dressing gown. He knew my routine Ben” Mum sounded worried and stressed
“Really Lara? That’s pretty f****d up.” Ben said,
“His playing games Ben, because I don’t want him back. Look! I found this under my pillow the other day. I wasn’t going to mention it, because I didn’t want to worry anyone. But I’m scare Ben.” I heard something that sounded like paper.
“The day you move on is the day one of you die. Tell Ben to back off.” Ben read it out softly,
My heart sunk. I thought Cameron was gone from our lives. He wasn’t gone, he was just laying low. Mum knew he was messing with us, She was just dealing with it on her own. It had been five months since he left, I thought he must of moved on by now.
“I’m not scared of him Lara. If you want me to be here more often, I can. I own my business, I don’t have to go to work. Or how about you all come stay at my house, it has more security.” Ben offered,
“Going to your house sounds like a good idea Ben, we can tell the kids it’s a holiday. We need to take this seriously. I’m going to take it to the cops in the morning after I drop the boys at school.” Mum whispered.
“Yes we should. Pack the boys a bag of clothes Lara, we will leave soon.” Ben agreed,
“Okay, I don’t want to freak the BoysTown, They have been through enough” Mum pleaded with him.
I knew they would be walking back out to the lounge room in a minute so I made my way back out to the lounge room and it was dark. The television was off and there was no light, only the moon shining through the window. That window wasn’t open before; I thought to myself.
“Harry?” I whispered, “Are you hiding?” I laughed,
“Sit down kid” I heard a husky voice, it drew my attention to a shadowy figure in the corner of the lounge room,
I recognised the voice, it was Cameron,
“MUM!” I screamed,
