Instead of answering the question she’d asked him, Scott said, “I brought breakfast for everyone,” and turned back to the table. “I thought Lauren and Blake were eating with us.” “They are,” Joy said, watching him. Scott kept his face ducked away from her, and Joy didn’t know what to make of it. “Scott.” “Blake will be here in about fifteen minutes,” Lauren said, interrupting them. Joy turned toward her as she came outside from her bedroom door, her hair falling over her shoulders in dry waves.
