“Are you okay?”
I slowly raised my head, my vision still blurred from tears, and found myself staring at a woman I had never seen before.
She was… beautiful.
“Y-yes… I’m fine,” I said, forcing a small smile.
She didn’t believe me.
“I know you’re not,” she said gently, sitting beside me. “Your eyes are swollen, and I’ve been watching you for a while now.”
Watching me?
I blinked, confused.
She was dressed in luxury everything about her screamed elegance and money. Her brown hair shimmered under the soft sunlight, and her deep blue eyes stood out against her flawless skin.
I realized I had been staring.
She snapped her fingers lightly.
“Back to earth, young lady?” she said with a playful smile.
“You… you’ve been watching me?” I asked, still trying to process everything.
“Yes,” she replied calmly. “I heard what the doctor said.”
My chest tightened instantly.
“You did…” I looked away, shame creeping up my spine. I couldn’t even face her.
“No need to be ashamed, dear,” she said softly. “I was once like you… hopeless.”
That made me look at her again.
“I had nothing,” she continued. “No money. No connections. No one to help me.” She smiled faintly. “But look at me now. I can afford anything I want.”
Her hand rested on my shoulder, patting it gently.
It was… comforting.
“I want to help you.”
I froze.
“What?”
“I want to help you,” she repeated.
I let out a nervous laugh. “Help me? You don’t even know me.”
“I don’t need to,” she said simply. “I just need you to let me.”
Her eyes held mine, steady and unreadable.
“I… I don’t know, ma’am,” I stuttered.
“Call me Mrs. V,” she said with a small smile.
I hesitated, studying her face, searching for even the slightest hint of deception.
But there was none.
“I still don’t understand why you want to help me,” I admitted quietly.
She leaned back slightly.
“In this world, when an opportunity is given to you…” she reached into her purse and pulled out a card, placing it in my hand, “…you take it.”
I looked down.
RED MOON CLUB.
“Come tomorrow. 9 p.m.,” she said, standing up. “Call me when you’re ready.”
She began to walk away, then paused.
“Oh… and the job pays well,” she added casually. “At least $2,500 per night.”
My breath hitched.
“Two… thousand five hundred?”
She smiled.
“I’m sure you’re smart enough to understand what that means.”
And just like that…
She left.
Leaving me completely stunned.
“Wait just like that, she said she wants to help you?”
Lily stared at me, disbelief written all over her face.
“Yeah,” I said, taking a sip of my strawberry drink. “And the pay is insane. If I keep working there, I could clear my mom’s bills before the end of the month.”
She frowned, chewing slowly on her chips.
“But what kind of job pays that much?” she asked. “That’s not normal, Rosa. I have a bad feeling about this.”
“Me too,” I admitted. “But what choice do I have?”
I ran my fingers through my hair, frustrated.
“My current job pays barely anything. Even if I worked nonstop, I wouldn’t even come close to that amount.”
Silence fell between us.
“I think I’m going to check it out,” I said finally.
Lily nearly choked on her drink.
“What? Are you out of your mind? A random woman gives you a card to some underground club and you’re actually considering going?”
“What choice do I have, Lily?” I snapped, my voice breaking slightly. “Either I stay here and drown in debt… or I take a risk and save my mom.”
Her expression softened.
She sighed.
“Just… be careful, okay? I know you’re strong, but I still worry about you.”
“I will,” I said, giving her a small smile. “I promise.”
RED MOON CLUB
By the time I got there, my heart was already racing.
The club was hidden in a quiet alley, the darkness wrapping around it like a secret.
Expensive cars lined the entrance cars I had only ever seen in magazines.
This wasn’t a normal place.
This was where the rich came to play.
I approached the entrance nervously.
“Excuse me…” I said to the bouncer.
His eyes scanned me from head to toe, making me uncomfortable.
“What are you doing here?” he asked flatly.
“I’m looking for Mrs. V.”
His expression changed slightly.
“Why?”
“She asked me to come.”
He made a call, speaking in low tones before nodding toward the entrance.
“Go upstairs. Second room on the left.”
“Thank you.”
The moment I stepped inside, I froze.
Luxury.
That was the only word that came to mind.
Dim lights. Soft music. People dressed in expensive outfits. VIP sections glowing with exclusivity.
I swallowed hard and made my way upstairs.
After a quick knock, I pushed the door open.
“Ah… you came.”
I turned.
Mrs. V stood there, dressed in a stunning red gown that hugged her figure perfectly.
“Y-yes,” I stuttered.
“Sit.”
I obeyed immediately.
“What’s your name?” she asked.
“Rosa.”
She smiled.
“Relax, Rosa. I don’t bite.”
I let out a small nervous laugh.
“So… what exactly will I be doing here?” I asked.
She picked up her glass of wine.
“You’ll be serving VIP customers.”
I choked slightly.
“Serving… how?”
She laughed.
“Drinks, dear. Just drinks.”
Relief washed over me.
“Oh…”
“You can start now,” she added.
“Now?”
“Time is money, Rosa.”
I hesitated for a second.
But then I thought of my mom.
“I’m in.”
Minutes later, I was dressed and standing in front of a VIP customer.
“Hi, I’m Rosa. I’ll be your server tonight. What can I get you?”
The man’s eyes dragged slowly over my body.
“I’ll have champagne…” he said. “And your number.”
My smile stiffened.
“I’ll get your drink, sir.”
When I returned, two women were already clinging to him.
Disgust twisted in my stomach.
I turned to leave
But he grabbed me.
“What about your number?” he whispered, pulling me onto his lap.
My heart pounded.
“Let me go.”
He leaned closer, inhaling my scent.
“I know you’ll taste better.”
Rage snapped inside me.
I raised my tray
And hit him.
Hard.
He groaned, but before I could escape
He grabbed me again.
“Where do you think you’re going?” he snarled.
“Let me go!” I shouted.
Heads turned.
The room fell silent.
And then
Everything stopped.
Because suddenly…
he appeared.
