Weeks later, I found myself being unbound. Gidon pressed a button on my band and it suddenly broke off, falling onto the floor and making a clattering sound. He touched my bounded wings which had stiffened after the many weeks of not stretching them. The liquid suddenly burned itself but I felt no pain. A rather rancid smell came from my wings and I wrinkled my nose. Gidon backed up, obviously knowing that the smell was there. He picked up the tools that I had been using to fix the steel door which did not open up automatically like it used to.
He motioned me up to my room and I happily obliged, attempting to stretch out my wings which, I admit, were so stiff I'm surprised I didn't collapse from pain as I tried to move them. I quickly grabbed another corset and a skirt to go with it while letting my wings collapse into a cloak behind me. However, the cloak was also stiffened enough that I could feel it as it dragged against the floor.
With a sigh of relief, I undressed with only a little difficulty and got into the shower, feeling the warm water drench the cloak. The bathroom was wide enough that any type of being with wings as large as mine could easily fit. Every bathroom was designed to provide as much room to be able to fit the wings of everyone. I let the cloak drop, feeling the rush of my wings as they took form only this was a bit painful.
I bit my lip as I slowly opened and closed the folding of my wings so that I could try and stretch the stiffness out of them. It hurt a bit but I was able to keep the painful sounds by biting on my lip. Unfortunately it got so painful I could taste blood in my mouth. After a bit, I was able to move them without much pain, and soon I was able to lather my body with the scent of blueberry, my favorite.
Once I was done, I got out and dried myself off, applying my lavender scented lotion and adorning a dress weaved with leaves embedded in the skirt. I sprayed my wings with a sweet concoction that would help their flexibility after being stiff for so long. I outlined my eyes in a dark eyeliner, applying a purple mixed with blue shadow around the eyes. Finally, a touch of gloss completed the look.I admired my outfit for a second and smiled at myself in the mirror before turning away and walking back into my room. It felt great to finally be able to move freely instead of being bound and unable to fully complete some tasks. The band around my head had not really been a problem except for ducking under things in which I would underestimate the radius of the band and accidentally knock it against the boards.
Picking up a handful of seeds, I gave them to the hawk that was in its cage in my room. During my time here, I had spent much of my nights on the top of the mountain just sitting there and watching the stars. That is, until I had stumbled upon a wounded hawk who's wing was bent at an odd angle. I had brought it into my room, Gidon had granted me permission to even though fallen angels had no need to keep pets. But I really wouldn't have called him a pet but rather just a temporary companion. I left my window open to him but he had never left, even after I knew he was fully better.
I wasn't complaining though, it got really lonely sometimes when the only people I really talked to were Gidon and some random others. Though they came and went. I wasn't really good with conversations by myself for I had spent most of my time training for the day I met my mortal. Of course that was out of the question now. But sometimes I couldn't help but think about what he was up to. If he had escaped or had merely just forgotten about me. It wouldn't be much of a surprise since most humans weren't aware of their so called "Guardians." Of course, my case was quite different from the average.
After feeding the bird, I looked at him with a friendly expression. He mocked me by tilting his head at the same angle I was looking at him. With a small chuckle, I placed a finger on his feathers but pulled away when I saw that the spot I had touched had turned a different color. Instead of a normal brown, it had turned into a coal black. But only where I had touched him. I held my wrist out and it mounted it, its talons digging gently into the soft flesh of my arm.
I touched its beak which turned a purple color. With a raised brow, I traced my finger all the way down the bird's spine, watching as the colors changed completely. I traced the rest of the bird's body and was surprised to see that instead of a hawk, it was a raven. Great, Gidon's going to think I'm housing an animal shelter in here. I let the bird go back to its cage, tracing the small marks from where the bird or weird creature left.
I left my room, heading downstairs and almost barreling straight into a big wall of...feathers? I pushed them out of the way and the source of the feathers turned around. It was Maverick, one of the unpaired warriors. "What are you doing here?" I asked, pushing what I figured out was his wings.
He raised a brow and then looked me up and down. "One can't resist admiring the view m'lady." he said with a snicker. I suppressed a disgusted noise right before raising a brow towards him, "Are you done yet?" she asked, crossing her arms. He stood there a few moments and chuckled, "I can't be satisfied with just that." he motioned towards my clothes and I resisted the urge to throw up. Maverik was quite bold for an unpaired warrior. Wonder if he'd be able to really last in a battle if he's too busy trying to spot a female fighting somewhere. The thought made me laugh and I held a hand over my mouth to keep from giggling.
Unfortunately, this led Maverik to believe that his flattery was working on me. He grinned, leaning his face close to mine and looking directly in my eyes. Kinda scary to look at him from this point if you asked me. But of course, no one did. No sooner had I done that and suddenly, I was pinned against the wall, my wings were pressed against the rough stone structure, slightly dragging against it. Since they were newly stretched, this was a bit too much for them. I tried to push against Maverik's bulkier form but it was useless. Bigger people were just useless to work with.
"Let me go." I said to him, looking at him sternly in the eye. "But why should I?" he asked, a small purr seeming to escape his mouth. I looked at him with a disgusted look but he ignored it, leaning closer as if to kiss me; which was exactly what he was going for. Right before he was about to meet my lips with his, I spit directly into his opened mouth. He withdrew and looked at me with a disgusted face.
"I warned you." I said with a shrug, turning to the side to leave. Right when I took that first step, I felt his arm wrap round my hair and pull me back, pushing me once more on the wall.
I was trying so hard not to lose my temper with him. Especially since I had just gotten free from my bounds. His other hand wrapped itself around my neck, his mouth forcefully pressed right onto mine and I struggled to move. I bit his lip, hard. He ripped it out from between my teeth and suddenly grabbed hold of my waist, his lip bleeding.
Feeling the familiar swirl as we were transported to a different area, I continued to try and rip myself from his grasp. However, when the area around us stopped swirling and we were back in my room, I felt myself being pushed to land onto something soft. I turned my head and saw that he had pushed me onto my bed.
