I knew she recognised me.
It was obvious in the way she stared back at me too, even as she hugged Maria.
As we sat down, a waiter came around,
“What would you have, Madames?” He asked with a toothy grin.
While we placed our orders, I caught Erica glancing at me.
“Oh my gosh, it's so good to finally see you, Erica,” Maria said, “It's crazy we've been friends for so long and we're just meeting. It’s been, what, ten years? I was just telling Kiara on the way over about our letters, all those dreams we used to write about. Remember how you’d sketch those little flowers in the margins?”
Maria had given me a brief rundown of how she had met Erica on our way here.
From what I had gathered the few times I paid attention, they had gotten to know each other through a social media post.
