Diamonds

Cara started running as fast as she could, or rather as fast as she wanted them to think she could, and threw the microphone on the way inside screaming "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa"
She got inside and they closed the door, than a man walked towards her and said "man you're really stupid"
"What?" Cara asked, acting offended "I just wanted to see what you're doing"
"You just added to the hostages"
He grabbed her and tied her hands on her back.
"What no wait" she said "I can help you. What are you looking for? I wanna help!" She said, still with her stupid voice and her Australian accent.
"You're not from here, are you?"
"I'm from Australia. I moved here for adventures, please let me be part of your adventure"
He left her with the 5 hostages and came back with two other guys.
"An extra hand can't hurt" one of them said as they untied her
"Plus she's so stupid we could make her leave empty handed"
She jumped around smiling. "So, what are we looking for?" She asked
"What's your name sweetie?" One of them asked
It seemed as though he was the leader
"Carrie" she replied, still smiling and flirting.
"What’s your name?"
"Call me one. This is two, that's three. And four is still looking"
"How can I help, one?" She asked
"We're looking for where the diamonds are"
"Ouuu you're looking for diamonds? I LIVE for diamonds, see, this my diamond ring look how big it is, it's beautiful isn't it?" She showed them her hand.
Two looked at it closer and told her to give it to them.
"No. That's my ex husband's!" She said, hiding her hand
"Why are you still wearing it then?"
"He died" she whispered "and I LOVE THE DIAMOND CAN'T YOU SEE HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS?"
One came towards her and said "well, would you give it to me? I will give it back to you when we find the diamonds"
She acted like she hesitated.
"Promise?"
"Promise" he replied mockingly.
"Alright" she said, getting it off and handing it to him. "Now can I look for the diamonds?"
"Sure"
So she followed him and they all started looking except for three who stayed with the hostages.
She stepped aside and put her phone on "visitor" mode before texting the team for info on the diamonds. Then she deleted the text she sent.
"Um, you have a phone?"
"I'm trying to locate diamonds. I have a thing in it that helps me find diamonds and gold" she replied, handing it to one.
He seemed to look for something but didn't find anything.
She received a coded message a few minutes later as she was walking around, holding her phone up.
"Found them. I think" she said, pointing her phone at a wall.
She did notice an air vent in the roof of the other rooms roof. And the guns in all of them's belts.
"Hey, I have an idea" she said as they started breaking the wall she pointed at. "You don't need all these people right?" She said, waving at the room where the hostages were.
"If you find the diamonds, we can run away and you can let them go right?"
They seemed to think about it.
"Plus if you need hostages I can act like one" she added, smiling with all her teeth.
After finding one diamond, one told three to let them leave. So they left.
From then on, Cara stayed with one as the three others kept looking for diamonds. She was just waiting for the opportunity to run and climb the library to reach the vent.
As they were putting the diamonds in the bag, one put his arm around Cara's shoulders. The latter smiled and hugged him.
"What’s your real name, one?" She asked, looking up to his eyes.
"I'll be right back" he said
"What?" She said, seeing him join his team.
She ran to the vent, climbed the library, took the vent cap and pulled up inside before putting it back on and looking down to watch them looking for her.
"Where the hell did she go?" One asked, looking around. "Hey Carrie?" He called "I got a diamond for you" he said
Cara turned the light on her phone on and almost screamed as she saw rats around her. She put her wrist up to her mouth and said "you better get in now or I'll kill you"
A few seconds later, S.W.A.T came in and arrested all of them, but one, and Cara jumped out of the vent.
"Ugh" she said, grabbing a rat from her t-shirt and throwing it out before following them outside.
As everyone applauded her, she just walked towards Nathan and hugged him. Or rather hid inside his arms.
This was not cool.
Then she handed the glasses and the bracelet back to the tech guy.
"We're still missing one " captain Doodle said "One" he added
"He has the ring" Cara said, her head finally out of Nathan's body.
"Right" Alphonse said before asking for them to locate him.
And a few minutes later, he got caught at the other side of the building.
Cara walked towards him and said "now who's stupid?" Before joining Nathan again and going back to his house.
"Why are you this crazy?" He asked her as she got out of the shower.
"What do you mean?"
"What if they attacked you?"
She jumped on the bed and said “Well they didn’t”
“You shouldn’t take this much risk”
“I analysed the situation. They wouldn’t have let me in if they weren’t stupid”
He stared at her.
“Alright, I like the adventures. Can’t help it”
The following day, she drove to the firehouse for her shift.
“Cara, what are you doing here?” Doug asked
“Checking in for work?” she answered
“But you’re off”
“What do you mean I’m off?”
“You’re not supposed to work today. You didn’t sleep last night, working”
“Man, why didn’t anyone tell me?”
“You can go home now”
“Oh hell no. It’s 6 am I’m working”
The alarm rang and she ran to the truck before he stopped her.
“Cara!” he shouted as she smiled
“Where’s Stone?” she asked
Everyone shrugged as they arrived at the house where a kid was stuck in the balcony’s bars.
“Seriously where’s Stone?” Cara asked again as they were looking at how the bars held.
The kid’s babysitter was holding him as he was hanging down, his head still stuck.
After they called Doug about Stone missing, he told Cara to take over.
“Seriously?” She asked before ordering them to get the tools as she squatted next to the boy and started talking to him.
“What’s your name honey?”
“Jackson” He said
“Jackson, you’re very brave. See these guys? They’re gonna get you out okay?”
He nodded. But seemed to hurt himself while doing so.
“Don’t move. Can you tell me how you got stuck?”
“I wanted to see if my head fit”
“Well, apparently it does” Cara said, “close your eyes”
They put a cloth over his head.
“There’s gonna be a lot of noise, but it’s okay alright? It’s only gonna take a minute”
“Okay” he said as they started cutting.
As they finished, Stuart helped him up and the kid’s parents arrived. After seeing he was okay, they asked Cara where the boss was.
“Right now, I’m the boss” she said
“No seriously” the dad said
Cara didn’t say anything.
“Oh you’re serious?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Stuart asked as everyone else stood there, looking at them.
The kid’s mom shook Cara’s hand as she thanked her while the dad seemed mad.
"You okay?" Stuart asked her back in the truck
"Yeah why?" Cara said
"Well, that guy didn't seem happy that you were the boss. Although you were amazing"
"Yeah, well, what do you wanna do about it huh?"
"Right. Sorry"
A week later, they were playing spin the bottle, as requested by Mary who's birthday it is.
"Alright now, you draw a dare" Mary told Cara
"Kiss who the bottle points at for 1 minute" She read before spinning the bottle which pointed at Mary.
"Wanna do it?" Cara asked as Mary shrugged
So they kissed, for a long time in their opinion but hey, Nathan has the clock.
"Really?" Cara said as they stopped when he said stop.
"What, it was getting boring" Mary replied
"What was?" The boys asked
"Kissing without tongue" Mary replied
And so they kept playing the whole night.
The following day, Nathan asked Cara out for a pick nick.
"Wow that's nice" she said, seeing he set a cloth on the grass and food on it.
They sat.
"I have to ask you something"
"Why do you always say it instead of asking?" She asked
"Force of habit" he said "can we get married?"
She almost spit the piece of apple she had in her mouth.
"OH you're serious" she said
"Well, I wasn't planning on asking you right now but I'm kind of in big trouble and getting married would make things easier"
"Wait. You want to get married to get things easier?"
"Sorry. I probably shouldn't have done it this way."
She still didn't get it.
"Remember that lawsuit I told you about last month?"
"Yeah"
"Well, I know I'll lose. And they get 10% of my assets. But if we get married, with the prenup, you could get 90% and they only get 10% of my 10%"
"What?"
"And then I could ask you to marry me for real I swear"
She drank some water.
"Say something?"
"So you wanna get married to avoid losing too much money by doing a prenup that gets me 90% of your assets" Cara said
"Wow, you did understand what I was saying"
"But, won't they know you did that on purpose?"
"Well the prenup was done months before the lawsuit so it's not refutable"
"You already had…"
"I really was gonna propose to you. Just not this early"
"And you were gonna give me 90% of what you own? Are you crazy?"
"Well, no, I was gonna give you 30. But I changed it to 90 because of the lawsuit"
"You… wow I don't know what to say"
"Please say yes? We can get married in City Hall and annul it afterwards and then get married for real"
"Won't they want proof?"
"Wait… you're actually considering it?"
"You were honest with the reason so, yeah, why not"
"Really?"
"Really" she said before he jumped on her.
"Alright let me go" she said "but I have to tell my mom. And my brothers"
