Shocking solution

1525 Words
“The Perfect solution Mr. Thorne, a contract marriage with Miss Lyra to soften your image.” The PR manager’s head was down as he spoke. His boss might not like it, but this is the shocking solution. Wyatt scoffed as he began laughing maniacally. This is the most imprudent joke he has ever heard in his life. A contract marriage with a woman he hasn’t even met yet. What a shocking solution indeed. He snarled, icy blue eyes flashing with fury. “Are you out of your mind? Marry that woman? Do you know what you are saying?” A thud echoed through the office as Wyatt slammed the cell phone in his hand onto his mahogany desk. It wasn’t the social media that infuriated him but the sheer incompetence of these so-called employees. They can’t even think of a good solution. Marrying that woman, as if he had no better plans for himself. “As I said, you are all fired now buzz out!” came his last warning. “Mr. Thorne, if the public see you are married to a life coach, then they will love and look up to you more because your wife is changing lives with what she does.” As he continues talking, he was down on Wyatt’s foot, “The company can even sponsor some of her sessions for free to the netizens.” The solution is shocking, but this is the only way. “Get Lyra Rivera!” Assistant Jessica shook her head upon Wyatt’s words. They have no idea how her Aunt is. “Boss, even I know Miss Jessy’s Aunt as well,” Another from the PR team suddenly spoke, causing Wyatt to sigh. They said only the Rivera woman could help, but they were not moving at all. “Of course, you do. After all, you are Miss Jessica's loverboy.” Assistant Jess, on the other hand, blushed, so the boss also knows? The couple’s reaction caused a smirk from Wyatt. He faintly laughed, “What, this is my building, so all that goes on here is in my ears.” The man gave no mercy as he exposed them. “No, Mr. Thorne, it's not like that, she has to see the need for her or else she won’t help.” His frustration simmered, fueled by the crazy turnout of the situation. Wyatt slammed his fist on the table, “What do you suggest I do?” “Propose to her!!” they all replied in unison. The PR manger was relieved, now his boss was talking, “Mr Thorne, the situation is crucial, so is the need for her. If we don’t act fast, then it will only escalate.” Wyatt stormed out, leaving a stunned silence in his wake. His frustration bubbled, he is not doing this, right? Angry and confused, the man stormed out as he slammed the office door shut. He walked past them, and they all hurried after him. Moments later Wyatt’s face was indifferent as he stood in front of Sunshine y- life Academy. The man adjusted his tie, as a flicker of annoyance crossed his face at the mere appearance of the building. His life is taking a turn, and he needs to get a hold of it and this is the only option. ‘Damn it!!’ he cursed while trying hard to assure himself this shocking solution is the best option he has. “Stay back, I will go in first.” Wyatt wasn’t pleased as he whispered to the nervous PR team lined up behind him. He sighed and took a step, only to be stopped by his assistant, “Mr. Thorne… I…I think you should…wait here first.” Wyatt glared at the girl who continued to stumble on her words. He hates it, incomplete sentences, they make you agitated. “And why?!” he roared, irritated. “Boss, I should go in first, so I can speak with my aunt beforehand.” Assistant Jess proposed. She knows her Aunt well, the girl won't bat an eye before chasing Wyatt off with a stick. A total disaster that will be because she will be rendered jobless. The man didn’t speak upon hearing the girl’s words. Assistant Jess, on the other hand, took Wyatt’s silence as an answer and quickly ran to the building. ‘Aunt Lyra, where are you?’ assistant Jess kept mumbling as she made her way inside the academy. She silently prays the woman is here and not at one of her outdoor sessions. Jessica wanted to scream as she spotted her aunt doing yoga at the sight. Finally, she had done it. The girl ran and dragged the woman onto her yoga mat to sit with her. “If you don’t agree, I will lose my job,” Jessica begged as she squeezed her aunt’s hands with a trembling voice, “it will just be a contract.” She continued begging her aunt with tears cascading down her cheeks. Lyra was dazed. What though? “What contract?” she asked, wiping her niece’s tears away, “See your puffy cheeks.” She added, causing laughter from the girl. “Don’t tell me that man had bullied you?” she asked in anger, referring to Wyatt. Lyra was angered, she had heard a lot about that man without even seeing him. Jessica, on the other hand, continued quivering her head simultaneously, everything was getting out of hand. It's just too much, “Marry my boss,” she continued while shaking her aunt, “His life needs you.” Lyra looked at her niece and laughed. The girl has left her work just to come here and disturb her? “That man is indeed bullying you then.” The woman sternly stated as she laughed her heart out. This is so funny. “Lyra Rivera?” suddenly a voice yelled. Assistant Jessica sighed; she hadn’t even gotten the woman to agree yet. A surprised expression came from the woman, but she quickly concealed it, “So you are the infamous Wyatt Thorne?!” she smirked and yelled back, making her way up. “As you can see, I am not a zombie.” Came his reply, causing laughter from the woman. Lyra couldn’t believe it. Her poor niece wasn’t being crazy after all. The man really needs her help. Although hesitant, Lyra saw it as an opportunity to help a lost soul. Gazing towards the direction of his assistant, Wyatt began speaking, “100 million, I am sure that is enough to buy your whole sessions for a year.” Lyra’s laughter knew no bounds as the man spoke. This is not happening, “And?!” she glowered at the man. “What do you want again?” Wyatt was pissed, she was making it worse instead of helping. But she is not winning. “And, I want you to have a sense of humor, Mr. Thorne, your employees shudder at just the mere mention of your name, and you are all over social for being a corporate tyrant,” she moved closer to him, causing him to stumble backwards, “Out of touch CEO, do you know what that means?” she smirked, chuckling. Wyatt wanted to grasp the woman’s neck as she spoke. The nerve of that coach, “You!!” he wanted to say more, but she was quick to beat him to it. “I am sure even your family are dissatisfied with how you turned out.” Lyra shook her head concurrently as she spoke. He is just too much. That coach! The woman had the nerve to mention his family. Wyatt was close to choking the woman, but the PR manager greatly intervened, “Miss Lyra is just speaking her observation.” “With a year of emotional intimacy workshops, you will be whole again. So, are you ready, Mr. Thorne?” Came Lyra’s challenge. He needs help right; she will give it tenfold. Fuming, Wyatt didn’t say a word, but Lyra, who understood his silence, shouted, “To city hall before I change my mind.” “Life coaching is not about money but change.” Her last words came before making her way. Wyatt scoffed. Of course, money buys everything. The man took long strides out of the academy. Time is money and unnecessary emotions should not ruin it for him. The PR team were all shocked. Miss Rivera is indeed a life coach. Assistant Jessy ran after her boss as she jumped with joy. Her aunt never disappoints. Wyatt Thorne is in for a good one. An hour later “Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Thorne, you are now husband and wife.” The civil registrar enthusiastically declared as they kept their pens down. Immediately came Wyatt and Lyra’s fake smile as the couple acknowledged the man. The girl happily hugged the man. The marriage charade has just begun. ‘Welcome to my sessions, Mr. Thorne’ Lyra whispered, smirking at the man. Wyatt squeezed the woman on top of him; she had better be of help, or he didn’t know what he would do.
