“I AM trying to be patient and gentle with your sister, but she keeps saying things that really irritate me!” Dougy says in reply to me chastising him for growling at Jan earlier. I could tell she was pretty upset, even though she had tried to hide it. “I mean, come on! She suggested that you ought to have chosen Prince Elias just because he has a shiny palace! How much more should I be forced to put up with?”
“Well, I chose you, Douglas Sinclair! And nothing is going to change that,” I remind him sternly. “And I love your castle. Whereas this place does not have very many happy memories for me, except for those hours I spent here with you creating our pups. I don’t think Jan meant to say anything offensive on purpose.
