“Poor Gavin!” I can’t help but say after he left. “I feel pretty badly for him. I’ll bet he’s terribly embarrassed about barging in here like that over nothing!”
“Poor Gavin?” Dougy replies, apparently taken aback by my sympathy for my nephew. “What about yer poor mate? I’m the one that terrifying wolf nearly ate for a midnight snack!”
“He obviously didn’t manage to get drunk enough to not feel what we just did,” I remind Dougy, who just shrugs off my explanation. “He had to have known somehow that you marked me, and he must have assumed that you did it against my will. Otherwise I’m sure he wouldn’t have been so angry with you. How embarrassing for him!”
