“This is starting to feel like the longest day ever!” Dougy complains as we dress ourselves for dinner that evening. “It started off well enough, spending the morning at the McKay farm, doing repairs and spending time with my son.”
“Yes, I suppose the day did start off fairly well,” I agree, although I recall not feeling terribly well this morning. I spent only an hour or so in Cora McKay’s home, setting up lunch for the wolves working on the farm and chatting with little Douglas’s grandmother. “And then the day sort of went sideways on us, didn’t it?”
