I ran like I’d never run before. The setting sun was at my back and prickled at my neck, making me realize how long and terrifying the shadows around me were. The path was getting harder to follow thanks to the falling of night. Soon everything would be shrouded in blackness. And as awesome as my abilities were, I didn’t have the gift of seeing in the dark…
Finally, I broke the tree line and--- and ran straight into a sign, saying “private property”. I was in the right place alright, but I’d never imagined that being on the right track could be this painful. Groaning, I looked up and caught a glimpse of a two-story white house at the end of a narrow paved road, leading up to it.
