I rushed out of bed, heart hammering as I yanked open the armoire and pulled out the training clothes I'd seen the warrior-women wear in my old pack, tight linen trousers, a cropped leather vest laced across the chest, and soft knee-high boots made for silence. I dressed in seconds, pulled my long, red hair into a brutal knot at the nape of my neck, and stepped into the hallway just as one of Caspian's maids, Joshua, was entering his room. He froze.
