CHAPTER 2

The next day came as anticipation hung thick in the ceremonial hall, a grand chamber adorned with the symbols of various packs and noble families. Sunlight filtered through stained glass windows, casting colorful patterns on the assembled nobles and alphas. I sat in the front row, nervously smoothed the fabric of her dress. A hush fell over the hall as the ceremonial master stepped forward, his presence commanding attention. "Ladies and gentlemen," the master began, his voice resonating through the hall, "we gather here today to witness a momentous occasion in the history of our kingdom." My fingers intertwined tightly as she awaited Ethan's call. I had been by his side for years, supporting him in every challenge and triumph. The master's voice cut through my thoughts, announcing with deliberate suspense, "I am honored to proclaim Ethan Blackstone as the alpha of our kingdom." A swell of applause erupted from the gathered alphas and nobles, acknowledging Ethan's ascension with respect and admiration. Stepping onto the stage amidst the ovation, Ethan raised his hands in a gesture of humility and gratitude. "Thank you, everyone," he began, his voice carrying easily across the hall. "I won't have been able to win without the unwavering support of someone very dear to my heart." My breath caught as Ethan's gaze found me in the crowd. His words, laden with emotion, resonated deeply within me. "She has been my pillar of strength, my guiding light," Ethan continued, his eyes never leaving mine. "I owe everything to her love and unwavering belief in me." A rush of warmth flooded me as tears welled in her eyes. Ethan's acknowledgment meant more to me than any title or position ever could. I clasped my hands tightly together, overwhelmed with pride and love for the man who had chosen me despite my wolfless status. "And now," Ethan declared, his voice ringing with authority and affection, "allow me to introduce you to my Luna, my mate, my everything..." My heart skipped a beat as Ethan's words hung in the air, the tension palpable. My gaze flickered to Delilah Lakewood, standing tall behind me. Delilah's smirk sent a chill down my spine. Ethan's next words fell like a heavy curtain. "Delilah Lakewood." My dreams shattered like glass, the fragments cutting deep into my heart as Delilah kissed Ethan, I was devasted as i shook my head. I couldn't believe it, why would he betray me? I did everything for him, i was perfect. I turned to look at my Grandfather who had a smile on his face, of course he would be pleased to see that I didn't success. Alpha Marcus got both sides of the deal, basically killing two birds with one stone. A tear slipped out of my eyes, I glanced at Ethan with regret and pain. How could he have done this? "What are you doing Ethan? You promised me that, we will be together. You said that you will pick me today, you were supposed to pick me. Why?" I cried out as the words tumbled out of my mouth in an outburst of emotions. "I can't be mated to an Omega, i need a strong Luna at my side now and you are not that woman." Ethan said to me harshly without emotion. "B-But you knew that I was an Omega, you didn't care and you loved me!" I said to him almost stammering. "Well, I do care Jessica! It's distasteful having you by my side, I mean did you actually think that you were going to be Luna?" He asked me as he scoffed, I shook my head denying the reality between us. "Was it all a lie?" I asked him with a whisper. "Yes! It was all a lie, you are a weak, disgraceful omega. I never loved you." Ethan insulted me, humiliating me in front of the hundreds of people that gathered. I wanted to deny it, she couldn't believe his words. He had to love me, as much as I loved him. "No, Ethan......I don't believe you, if you didn't at least love a little bit then you would have rejecte........" "I reject you, Jessica Lakewood." Ethan said cold-heartedly and I fell to the ground, as a sharp sting ripped a part of my heart. I clutched my painful chest, the pain of rejection coursed my body making me feel numb, i felt my breathing becoming more coarse. i forced herself to breath but i couldn't, I heard footsteps approaching me as i rose my head up seeing my step sister with an evil smile on her face. "You! You did all of this, you turned Ethan against me." I screamed at Delilah, my step-sister, rage boiling inside me as I glared at her with contempt. "I didn't do anything," she sneered back, her voice dripping with malice. "I told you that Ethan wouldn't pick an Omega like you." The words cut deep, but she wasn't finished. "Ethan and I have always been together from the beginning. We planned to manipulate you, use you, and then discard you like the trash you are. Now, look at you... An omega with no family name. You're a rogue now, with no one to help you. Trash like you should be in the dungeon." Delilah giggled maliciously. Tears streamed down my face as her harsh words and the weight of betrayal hit me. Drawing strength from my wolf, I bolted out of the hall, racing outside the kingdom and into the deep forest. The pain seared through my body and soul. I had sacrificed everything for Ethan, but he used me and left me to wallow in sorrow and pain. A sharp sting in my leg made me wince. An arrow, fused with wolfsbane. These weapons were meant for hunting rogues. Three warriors emerged from the thick greenery, their eyes full of contempt. “Why are you doing this?” I pleaded, my voice raw and broken. “What do you want from me?” The leader, a tall, brutish man with a scar running down his face, laughed mockingly. “What we want, little wolf, is to hear you scream." Before I could react, one of them struck me across the face, the force of the blow sending me reeling. Another kicked me in the stomach, doubling me over, gasping for breath. They beat me mercilessly, their blows accompanied by a litany of insults. “You think you’re special? You’re nothing but a rogue!” one spat, his voice dripping with venom. My world became a blur of pain and humiliation. My body ached, my spirit crushed under their relentless assault. Then, a new terror crept in as I noticed the leader’s gaze filled with sickening lust. He knelt beside me, tearing at my clothes with rough hands. “Maybe we should have a little fun first,” he sneered, glancing at his companions. “What do you say, boys?” "Yeah! Rip her clothes." A chorus of cheers and cruel laughter filled the air. My heart pounded, and I struggled against them, but my strength was waning. "Oh, I'm going to enjoy this," he said, filled with lust as he forcefully licked my thighs, his hands ripping my clothes bit by bit, exposing my breasts. I closed my eyes, praying for strength, for deliverance, anything to end this nightmare. Just as the leader’s hand reached for my breasts, a powerful, authoritative voice cut through the darkness. “Enough!” The warriors froze, their heads snapping towards the newcomer. A figure stepped forward from the shadows, exuding an aura of command and authority. It was the commander of the kingdom’s elite guard. He looked at them with disgust and spoke with authority. “Leave her,” the commander ordered, his voice cold and unyielding. “The Luna wants her brought back alive." He glanced at my state and sighed. "And undefiled." The leader hesitated, his face contorted with frustration and anger. “But she—” The commander’s glare silenced him. “I said enough. Bind her and let’s go.” Reluctantly, the warriors obeyed. They bound my hands and feet, handling me roughly but no longer daring to harm me further. My body ached, my spirit felt broken, but a flicker of hope ignited within me. If my step-sister wanted me alive, perhaps there was still a chance for me to fight, to survive. I was dragged back to the kingdom, my body bruised and battered, my spirit hanging by a thread. They took me to a dark, dank room deep within the castle, and there I was left, chained and alone. Hours passed, each one an eternity, until finally, the door creaked open, and Delilah stepped inside. “Jessica,” she began, her voice as cold as the winter wind, “you really thought that you could run away." She saw my tattered dress exposing my private areas and smiled. "I suppose the men had fun with you," she added, smirking before I could respond. My eyes, filled with defiance despite my condition, met hers. “Why?” I asked, my voice trembling with effort. “Why are you doing this to me?” Delilah smiled, a chilling expression devoid of any warmth. “Well, Grandfather has disowned you and your arranged marriage has been canceled. In other words, you are a nobody and no one wants you." "So what! You feel pity for me?" I asked, desperate to understand her agenda. "Pity..." she whispered the word and giggled. Her eyes gleamed with malice as she continued. “No, my dear, I don't pity you. Your suffering is far from over. I have plans for you. Plans that will ensure you can never pose a threat to me or to this kingdom again.” My blood ran cold at her words. “What are you going to do?” "Ethan suggested we exile you from the kingdom, but I have other plans. I would rather use you as my slave girl until you drop dead. That's a fitting punishment for you." Delilah giggled at me as she walked out of the prison, leaving me alone in the darkness, the weight of my fate pressing down on me.
