Chapter Two They squared off as the bell rang. She was taller and broader, her muscles honed by years of lifting and grappling. She wasn’t sure what he did, but he appeared athletic at least, without any noticeable spare fat to blunt his lines. He reminded her of a cat; perhaps a particularly enigmatic panther. She almost felt sad, knowing she’d crush him the same way she always did. It would probably be their one and only meeting as a result. An unexpected ache in the area of her heart at the thought spurred her to action. She dove toward him, but he nimbly avoided her lunge.
