Sir William is satisfied that his daughter is well-settled and in prestigious company during his weeklong visit. Mr. Collins entertains him, but at his departure the household returns to normal. Mr. Collins does not demand much attention, dividing his time between his garden and private book room. Charlotte spends her time in a back room which is less comfortable but discourages too many visits from her husband.
