Skyler was standing at the top of the staircase when the door to the room designated for Samuel opened, and out came Adreianne.
"He’s asleep now?" he asked.
She nodded, her hands intertwined as she walked toward him. There was a nervous look on her face.
"We could talk now." He gestured for her to walk ahead toward the office he had set up in the house. He opened the door wide, ushering the still hesitant Adreianne in.
"Sit down," he offered as he took his seat in the swivel chair behind the coffee-colored desk in the center of the spacious room.
