Accusations
Once-venerated names of heroes, those who had stood against the goblin tide decades past, were now hissed about in malice and dragged through the mud. Tears as black as pitch with accusatory wails ravaged the populace with confused guilt, anxiety and animosity building up in the backs of minds. The venomous claims curdled the blood, and made all feel culpable.
“Murderers,” snarled young voices barely above their breath and regarding events before their memory, “butchers of the innocents!” The charges were bitter, each syllable laden with contrived hatred.
