"Aurora come down here or you'll take a cab," called my mom from downstairs. I'm trying to save money so that cannot happen. I grab my backpack and hurry downstairs. I find my parents already having breakfast, as usual I kiss both their cheeks while greeting and take a sit. "Good morning principessa, I have an early surgery so I can't take you to school today, your mother will," he says getting up. "I'll see you both later today, all the best on your exam." He kisses my forehead and my mother on the lips. "Bye love, and do not worry I will take your precious princess to school.", says my mom. My dad leaves and shortly after eating, mom and I leave for school. She has no flight this morning so she is able to take me to school.
Where are my manners?
I’m Aurora Camilla Romano, 18.
The daughter of Dr. Alessio Romano — Head of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA. And Captain Irene Romano — commercial pilot for United Airlines. It’s just me, my parents, and my older brother Luca. He’s 22 and just graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Human Biology. He’s on the pre-med track and starts Stanford School of Medicine this fall — just like Dad, he’s going to be a surgeon.
My mom flies all over the country, but home base for us is Los Angeles, California. More specifically, Beverly Hills. We’re always flying back to Italy to see Dad’s family, and to Texas for Mom’s. And as of this week, I’m a senior at Beverly Hills High School with exactly one final exam left before graduation.
