Believes her again Jane's pov The room felt like a battlefield as Jared and Christian locked eyes,From where Jared was sitting and where Christian was standing you can tell the uneasy tension in the air. I'm already embarrassed how can they both argue while someone they said is my dad was laying dead? And this was what they can do I understand Jared was only standing up for me but Christian is just being childish. “If either of you actually cared about me,” I said, my voice cutting through the silence, “this ridiculous behavior isn’t what I need right now.” Jared turned to me immediately, his face softening. “I’m sorry, Jane. I can't let anyone maltreat you again I will give you some space if that's ok with you and be around just call me if you need anything”he said as he turn to leave. “Yes, you can leave,” Christian said sharply, his tone like a whip. “You’ve overstayed your welcome.” Jared didn’t respond to him. He only glared at him if only eye was a gun both of them will be dead by now. “I’ll be outside if you need anything, Jane,” Jared said, his voice calm as he reached for the door and left without another word. The door had barely closed behind him when Amanda walked in, her soft voice breaking the silence. Her heels made the most loudest noise as she walked to my mother. “Mrs. Stella,” she said sweetly as she walked past me, bending down to hug my mother. “I’m so sorry for your loss.” I didn’t even realize I was clenching my fists until my nails bit into my palms. Amanda’s little act was nauseating. Of course, she will be here. She had to insert herself into everything. She will try to come to mock me. She walked past me without a glance and sat beside Christian, leaning into him like she belonged there. “You didn’t tell me you were coming,” Christian whispered to her, his tone low. “Maybe you were too busy to check your phone,” she whispered back, flashing him a fake smile. The way she smiled at him, the way she leaned into him—it was a performance, one I’d seen too many times before. I couldn’t take it anymore. I stood abruptly, my chair scraping against the floor. “Jane, are you already leaving ? ” my mom asked, her voice uncertain. “I need to use the restroom,” I said, barely glancing back as I left the room. The hallway was quiet, but my thoughts were loud, swirling in endless circles. I reached the restroom and walked inside, placing my purse on the counter. The cold water I splashed on my face did little to calm me. Why was Christian be have childish there as if he was trying to protect me from Jared ? He was always angry, jealous, and possessive whenever Jared was around. Yet he chose Amanda every single time. What did he want from me? I was still lost in thought when the door creaked open behind me. I looked in the mirror and saw Amanda walk in. Her smile was gone. The sweetness she had shown in the other room had vanished, replaced by something sharp and venomous. “The last time we are in some where Luke this i already told you to back off my man” she said, her voice low and cutting, “ Christian don't even care if you exist can't you see it's already your lost? .” I sighed, not even bothering to face her. “Maybe you should tell him that yourself. He’s the one who can’t seem to mind his own business.” Amanda stepped closer, her heels clicking against the tile floor. “You’re distracting him, Jane. Isn’t five years of failure enough for you to realize you’ve lost? Can't you get just disappear from his laugh or maybe you can't survive without him.” I turned to her then, my eyes narrowing. “I’ve never asked him for anything since I left. And speaking of losing, Amanda, let’s talk about you. From my observation I think you lost you are just trying everything possible to see if you can fit in , where are you when Christian needed you the most you flew abroad and now back like you never left ? Come on you can do more than that bitch.” Amanda’s lips curled into a smirk. “And yet, the moment I came back, he kicked you out like yesterday’s trash. Face it, Jane. He’ll always choose me over you.” I crossed my arms, my voice steady despite the anger boiling inside me. “If you’re so sure about that, Why are you here ? Why do you even feel like someone will snatch him away from you ?” Amanda’s smirk faltered for a moment, but then she laughed—a sharp, mocking sound. “Snatch away ? b***h no one can take Christian away from me not even you. I'm just giving you a fair warning , just go back to the trash where you belong” She stepped even closer, her voice dripping with malice. “You thought Jared loves you ? It's just a time before she dumps you.” My fists clenched at her words. “Don’t you dare bring Jared into this,” I said, my voice trembling with anger. I still wonder why the mentioning of Jared cracks me anger more. “Oh, did I hit a nerve?” Amanda taunted, her smile growing wider. “You think you’ve got some strength now because some man is showing you attention? Please, Jane. It’s only a matter of time before Jared dumps you too. Nobody loves you. You’re just convenient.” Her words cut deep, but I refused to let her see how much they hurt. I grabbed my purse and moved to walk past her, but she stepped in front of me, blocking my path. “I’ll make sure Christian never even looks at you again,” she said, her voice deadly quiet. Before I could stop myself, my hand flew up, and the slap echoed in the restroom. Amanda’s head whipped to the side, her cheek turning red as she stared at me in shock. “Go to hell, Amanda, I'm not that b***h you know before” I said, my voice shaking with rage. Amanda didn’t hesitate. She grabbed her heel, smashed the mirror with it, and picked up a jagged piece of glass. Before I could react, she dragged it across her own arm, letting out a sharp scream. “Christian!” she cried, dropping to the floor as blood dripped from her hand. The door burst open, and there he was, his face pale as he took in the scene. “What the hell happened here?” he demanded, his eyes darting between me and Amanda. “She attacked me!” Amanda sobbed, clutching her bleeding hand. “I just wanted to tell her I was sorry for her loss, and she attacked me! She said it was my fault she lost her baby!” There she go again with same story she said at the gala always trying to remind me about my baby but still I'm no longer that person again. I stared at her, my chest heaving with disbelief. “Go ahead, Christian,” I said, my voice flat. “Believe her. Just tell her to stop stalking me otherwise when this seems as accident next one may cause her more pain than you imagine.” As I turned to leave, Christian grabbed my arm, his grip tight. “The next time you lay a hand on Amanda, I swear—” His voice broke, and he looked at me like I was someone he didn’t recognize. “She’s pregnant, Jane. For crying out loud she is pregnant. How could you be so heartless?” I paused for a while , So the text I received at the hospital the day if my miscarriage was really true? I wasn't hallucinating? . I didn’t have time to respond. The door burst open again, and Jared strode in, his face like thunder. “Don’t you ever touch her,” Jared said, shoving Christian back. Christian stumbled, his hand releasing me as Jared stepped between us. “Are you okay?” Jared asked, his eyes scanning my face. “Did he hit you?” “No,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. “I’m fine.” “No, you don't look fine to me we need the doctor to check you out,” Jared said, his voice firm. Christian face fall immediately." Man she said she's fine get the f**k out of here " Before I could protest, Jared scooped me up in his arms, carrying me like I weighed nothing. Ignoring Christian was the best thing he did that put smile in my face. “Jared, put me down,” I said weakly, but he ignored me, his focus unwavering.
