Good time to say bye
Jane's POV
Amanda's words sound so crazy. So full of jealousy. Does she really think I'm holding that much on Christian? We both don't mean anything to each other anymore. I don't know if I should laugh or slap some sense into her head.
I chuckle and click my tongue. "Amanda," I begin, folding my arms. "If you're really that desperate to have Christian, why don't you take it up with him? Why are you here spilling your words to me?"
"Oh Jane, you don't get it." Amanda's voice gets weird for a second. Like she's scared. But then her mean face comes back. "I'm really giving you the chance to walk out of this fake marriage in one piece. You know I can't get married to Christian when you're still tied to him."
I laugh. I can't help it. "So you know exactly that Christian is married. Why are you still eager to fit in? Or is it that no other man can stand your bad character?"
"Watch your mouth, b***h!" Amanda's face turns red. "Christian was mine and he will always be mine. You will soon be out of the picture and everyone will forget you. It's only good that your useless womb couldn't hold that child."
The words hit me like a punch. My heart breaks all over again. I hold my stomach tight. Hearing these awful words from someone like Amanda makes everything hurt more.
"You're not just stupid like I thought." My voice breaks. I'm almost crying. "You're also evil."
"Oh, was that touching? Save it. There's no one here to buy it." Amanda's smile is cold. "What makes you think Christian will want a child from a low-class teacher like you? Someone who gave up her job so easily to be a housewife? I'm not evil, Jane. I'm just better at playing this game than you."
I try to say something, but Amanda keeps talking. She takes off her high heel and hits it hard on the mirror next to me. Glass breaks everywhere.
"If we're both hurt, who do you think Christian will believe?" She looks at me with crazy eyes.
Before I can move, she uses a piece of broken glass to cut her own hand. Blood runs down her fingers. Then she cuts my hand too. I scream. The pain shoots up my arm.
"What are you doing?" I try to get away from her.
She uses her bloody hand to put blood on her face. She looks like someone attacked her. Then she grabs my hair and pulls hard.
"Stop!" I cry out.
She kicks me in the stomach. The pain is so bad I can't breathe. I fall to the floor.
"Get off me, Jane!" Amanda starts shouting. "Help! Christian! Help me!"
She keeps screaming and calling Christian's name. I'm on the floor, bleeding, trying to breathe. The kick in my stomach hurts so much.
Just like she planned, Christian runs into the restroom.
"Jane! Amanda! What happened?" His voice is full of panic.
I'm lying on the floor. Blood is coming from my hand. Everything hurts.
"It's Jane," Amanda says. She starts crying fake tears. She looks so scared. "I was just using the restroom when she attacked me. She's saying I'm responsible for her dead baby. Christian, she needs to see a doctor. Something's wrong with her mind."
Amanda tells her lie so well. And of course, Christian believes her.
"Christian," I call out slowly. My voice is weak.
"Don't even dare to say anything!" Christian cuts me off. His face is full of anger. "We already talked about this, Jane. Are you this heartless?"
"She's lying, Christian." I can barely speak.
"Oh, spare me! Do you see Amanda? Does she look like she's lying? She looks terrified!" Christian shouts at me.
Amanda makes a small cry. "My hand is still hurting, Christian. We need to see the doctor."
I watch Christian pick up Amanda and carry her. He walks right past me like I'm nothing.
"Get up from there. Clean yourself and go home straight," Christian orders me.
They leave me alone on the bathroom floor. I'm bleeding and hurt, but he doesn't care.
Amanda looked scared, but she didn't look hurt at all. She was right about one thing - Christian was never meant for me. I try to stand up, but the kick she gave me in my stomach is too painful. I fall back to the ground.
"Jane?" A voice calls from outside the restroom.
"Oh Jane, what happened?" It's Jared. He sees me lying on the floor.
I try to talk, but he tells me to stay quiet.
"Don't talk. Stay with me," he says. He picks me up like I'm a bride and carries me out.
Everything is spinning. My head feels heavy. Jared carries me to his car and drives fast to the hospital.
I can't believe Christian didn't even check on me again. He really doesn't care about me at all. Maybe we were never meant to be together.
At the hospital, the doctor cleans my cuts. Jared was with me all the time . He make sure the doctor wasn't too hard on my wound and would ask her to stop whenever he feels that it hurts me much. I never knew this man from anywhere but he is far better than a man I have known for few years ago. And oh I forgot I'm married to him in those years I think I know him.
But Christian was never what I thought he is or I wish he is . And Amanda was right it's really a good time to say good bye.
