Zandaya's POV… I awoke from a deep slumber, feeling the weight of exhaustion still lingering in my bones. As I sat up on the bed, my eyes furrowed in confusion when I noticed Rossana standing before me. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, and a deep frown was etched across her face. It was clear that something was amiss, though I couldn't fathom what I had done wrong. "You slept the entire day, and now Annabelle is back," Rossana seethed, her voice filled with frustration. "She has asked us to join her in a secret room." I rubbed the remnants of sleep from my eyes, trying to process the information. "Isn't Annabelle your mother?" I pointed out, my voice laced with curiosity. Rossana's glare intensified, her anger palpable in the air. I simply shrugged my shoulders, unsure of how to appease her. "I apologize for oversleeping. Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise that we didn't venture outside. Who knows what could have happened if we were caught?" "Zandaya!" Rossana called out, her voice now tinged with a hint of desperation. "When did you become so timid? You are the future queen of Serpent, yet you can't even muster the courage to step outside." I met her gaze, my own eyes filled with determination. "Rossana, you know that sometimes it's wise to heed the advice of our elders. I genuinely don't want to put anyone's life in danger. I'd rather err on the side of caution." "You are simply saying that because you have a hot and handsome guy visiting your dreams and kissing you," Rossana exclaimed, her voice filled with a mix of frustration and envy. She followed me to the bathroom, her footsteps echoing in the hallway. I turned the doorknob and stepped inside, the cool tiles beneath my feet providing a sense of relief. "It has nothing to do with that," I replied, my voice calm and composed. "I just don't want to get in trouble, that's all. And I don't want you to be in trouble either." I turned on the tap, the sound of rushing water filling the room. I cupped my hands and splashed water on my face, feeling the refreshing sensation wash away the remnants of sleep. "We are getting late for the meeting," Rossana said, her tone slightly softened. "See you downstairs." With that, she left the bathroom, her footsteps fading away. I knew she must be angry, her disappointment evident in her hurried departure. I hadn't anticipated sleeping the entire day, unaware of the passing hours. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I walked out of the room and made my way downstairs. The hall was empty, a quiet reminder that everyone had already left for the meeting. I strolled down the corridor, passing by various rooms, until I finally reached my destination - an ancient room, steeped in history and mystery. I entered the room, feeling a sense of urgency as I realized that everyone was already present. It was clear that I was late, and I hurriedly made my way towards the big table, searching for an empty chair. Finally, I spotted one next to Rossana and quickly pulled it out, taking my seat. "Thank you all for coming," Annabelle began, her voice filled with a mix of gratitude and concern. "The reason why I gathered this meeting is of utmost importance. You see, we must exercise extreme caution in the coming days, as the full moon is fast approaching. During each full moon, demons, and vampires engage in a sacrificial ritual, where they shed the blood of many serpents to prolong their own lives. It is a gruesome and sinister act." As Annabelle spoke, her words carried a weight of history and tragedy. "Twenty years ago, the entire clan of Serpents fell victim to the merciless onslaught of demons and serpents. Their lives were taken without mercy, leaving behind a trail of devastation. We cannot allow history to repeat itself. This time, we must ensure the safety of each one of us, and prevent ourselves from being used as pawns in this dangerous game. Our lives are at stake." Annabelle paused, her gaze sweeping across the room, making sure that her message was understood by all. "Am I making myself clear?" she asked her voice firm yet filled with a touch of vulnerability. In response, everyone in the room nodded their heads, including myself. The gravity of the situation was palpable, and we all understood the importance of remaining vigilant and united in the face of this imminent threat. "Another thing," Annabelle began, her voice filled with anticipation, "now it is the moment for Zandaya to embrace her true potential and claim all the powers that await her." With a sense of purpose, she continued, "After adorning the majestic crown, Zandaya will be bestowed with new abilities, enabling her to protect and guide us as our revered queen." Annabelle's eyes sparkled with a hint of excitement as she beckoned, "Please, dear Zandaya, step forward and take your rightful place on the throne." As the room fell into a hushed silence, I rose gracefully from my seat and made my way toward Annabelle. In the center of the room, a magnificent throne materialized, its regal presence commanding attention. And in a magical instant, a resplendent crown materialized, poised perfectly to rest upon my head. With a mixture of awe and reverence, I approached the newly formed throne, standing before it with a sense of purpose. The room seemed to hold its breath, as if aware of the significance of this momentous occasion. "You are going to follow my words," Annabelle declared with authority. Her voice resonated through the room, commanding attention. "I, Zandaya, make a solemn promise to protect every one of you with unwavering dedication. I shall not allow any harm to befall any of you. From this day forward, I shall become your impenetrable shield, ensuring your safety." As I spoke these words, a shimmering mist of silver enveloped the room, mirroring the color of my snake-like scales and the intensity of my eyes. The atmosphere crackled with electric energy as if acknowledging the weight of my commitment. One by one, everyone in the room transformed into their snake forms, slithering toward me in a show of unity and loyalty. They stood tall, their heads held high, as I ascended the throne and took my seat. The room fell silent, the air heavy with anticipation. Once settled on the throne, everyone resumed their human forms and bowed their heads in reverence. Their voices echoed in unison, "May you live a long and prosperous life, Queen Zandaya, and may no one dare cast an evil eye upon you." The genuineness of their words was palpable, a testament to the unwavering devotion they held for their queen. After the majesty of my coronation had concluded, the entire group assembled in a lavishly adorned dining room, eager to have a part in a lavish feast that had been prepared to celebrate the auspicious occasion. Laughter filled the air as people engaged in lively conversations, their voices blending harmoniously with the clinking of silverware and the delightful aroma of the delectable dishes that adorned the long feast table. Amidst the joy and revelry, I found myself lost in my thoughts, basking in the joyous atmosphere that enveloped the room. "Little one. " Suddenly, a voice, familiar and haunting, pierced through the noise of sounds, jolting me out of my reverie. It was him, the man whose voice had left an unforgettable mark on my memory. I scanned the room, searching for his presence, but to no avail. Confusion washed over me as his voice continued to echo in my ears, seemingly coming from nowhere and everywhere all at once. "You won't see me, even if you were to search," his voice resonated within me, its ethereal quality sending shivers down my spine. "I am in your room. Please, come to me. I yearn for the touch of your sweet lips, longing to taste their sweetness once more." My eyes widened in disbelief, and my throat suddenly parched as I struggled to swallow the lump that had formed within. Why was he here? I had made it abundantly clear that I wanted nothing to do with him, yet he had audaciously trespassed into the confines of my mansion without my consent. Reluctantly, I realized that I had no choice but to heed his call, for the consequences of being discovered with him could be dire indeed. After ensuring that no one was paying any attention to me, I closed my eyes and discreetly retreated to the dining room. Upon entering my room, I noticed him seated on my bed. It was rather audacious of him, as I am not particularly fond of others occupying my personal space. "How did you manage to gain entry?" I inquired, attempting to maintain an air of indifference. He chuckled softly, his laughter possessing a devilish quality that resonated pleasingly within my ears, causing my heart to quicken its pace. "The same means by which you arrived here is the same means I used to reach this place," he responded. I swallowed nervously, finding every aspect of his presence undeniably captivating. "What is it that you want ?" I inquired. "I want you," he replied, gradually approaching me. "I distinctly recall informing you that I wished to have no involvement with you. Kindly depart from this location," I pleaded, striving to regain control over my emotions. "Are you attempting to deceive either me or yourself? Your heart races in response to my presence, and you yearn for me to bestow a kiss upon you," he declared, now standing directly before me. My heart raced even faster, and my knees weakened under the significance of his words.
