Chapter 7: The Transformation

461 Words
The headache intensified, feeling like a vice grip tightening around his head. Kael's vision blurred, and his body began to tremble. He knew that this was it. The transformation was beginning. With a growl, Kael threw off the covers and stumbled out of the cabin, into the forest night. The moon was high overhead, casting an eerie glow over the trees. Kael's body began to shift and contort, his muscles and bones rearranging themselves with a loud cracking sound. His skin felt like it was being stretched to the limit, pulled taut like a drumhead. His bones snapped and reformed, the sound echoing through his mind like a thousand tiny explosions. As the transformation took hold, Kael's scream erupted from his throat, a raw, primal howl that shook the trees. The sound was like nothing he had ever heard before - a mix of agony, terror, and raw animal fury. His hands felt like they were being crushed, the bones rearranging themselves into paws. His fingers screamed in agony as they shortened and thickened, his nails transforming into razor-sharp claws. His feet felt like they were being torn apart, his toes merging into pads. His face elongated into a snout, his nose flattening and his teeth sharpening into fangs. His jaw felt like it was being ripped apart, his mouth filling with a strange, primal hunger. Every inch of his body felt like it was being rewritten, his cells screaming in protest as his very DNA was reshuffled. His mind reeled, overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of the transformation. And through it all, Kael's scream continued, a raw, animal cry that echoed through the forest, a sound that was both terrifying and exhilarating. Kael's vision blurred and shifted, his eyes now seeing the world in a yellow-tinged haze. He could smell the forest floor, the trees, and the distant scent of prey, with a heightened sense of smell that was almost overwhelming. His hearing became acute, picking up every rustle of leaves, snapping of twigs, and distant howl. Kael's mind reeled as he stumbled through the forest, his new body awkward and unfamiliar. He tripped over roots and crashed through bushes, his paws scrabbling against the earth. His howls echoed through the trees, a primal cry of pain and confusion, as he struggled to come to terms with his new form. When his transformation reached its peak, Kael's body began to stabilize, his senses settling into their new configuration. He stood on all fours, his chest heaving with exhaustion, his eyes scanning the forest with a newfound intensity. His wolf was huge. His fur a thick, dark brown, with a silvery sheen in the moonlight. His eyes glowed yellow, with a piercing intensity that seemed to see right through the darkness.
