I lean back against the hard bark of my favorite tree, my favorite place on earth. I set my k****e down on my lap, my legs outstretched before me, as I sit on a blanket in the shade of my—or rather, our—old oak tree that resides in the field behind my house. I’ve been home from school for a couple of weeks now. I haven’t seen Jax yet. He had to stay at school for spring conditioning. It’s been good for me to have some time for myself—away from school, my friends, Trenton, and Jax. I’ve enjoyed these past two weeks filled with downtime and quality time with my family.
