I have come here four days back and I was badly missing my mother. She was alone there. Earlier I had that eagerness to come here but now even after staying there, I did not find the peace. I was completely exhausted staying in one place for more twenty hours. Even stepping out of the room was forbidden. I only gazed from the window. All I could see a large garden, roses, flowers, trees and decorations. A maid named Lucy told me that a birthday would be celebrated in the Palace very soon. I was excited to see the royal birthday but then she told me it was forbidden for servants and maids. Those three days I felt like I was in a prison. 

In my first day, I was confined in the room and underwent a health checkup by a maid named Kamilla, later I found that she was the head of the royal kitchen. Kamilla was bit aggressive and strict. If no one followed her order, she had the right to punish him or her. In my second day I was provided a basic teaching on the rules and regulation of the Palace. Third day I was told the behaviours, manners and ethics as a servant. On fourth day I was taught how to greet someone, wish someone how to properly dress, walk, talk and not to ever look directly to a royal member in any circumstances. Today is the fifth day and Lucy told me I will be allowed to visit the royal kitchen today.  

"You might be thinking who Lucy is. She is a maid who works here."  I met her on the third day. She came in my room with some foods. I was happy to see someone finally. We became very good friends. We introduced each other properly. Lucy was young , beautiful who had worked in the palace for more than ten years. 

I woke up from my morning sleep very early today. It was the birthday of a Prince whom I had never seen. I heard from my mom that he was the eldest Prince and future king in the throne of the Jermain. Anyways I was not dreaming about him because I know royals don't meet with servants. Someone knocked my door, I opened it immediately. Kamilla entered into my room and in the doorstep there were four new servants also stood. I greeted her as I was told to do so and waved a smile then because I would be allowed to tour the Palace properly. 

"Today is your first working day in the Palace, Lucy will accompany you in the royal kitchen. Don't do any mistake, do not repeat any mistake , mark my words or else you know what will be done." Kamilla said in her authoritative voice and I nodded my head. We stepped out of the room and walked up to a long corridor where Kamilla with other servants divided to other way and we walked straight to our destined place. 

I heard people talking about king and queen, prince and princesses , secretaries, head governors, servants, all those lucky people who resided inside this huge mansion. I was spellbound to see the interior of this mansion. The walls, the doors and the rooms all gave a clean royal touch. The lights and lamps engraved on each walls gave a glorious look. Everything look so stunning inside this large palace. At least one guard stood in each doors. They always bowed their head to the ground. The surface of the floor was neat and clean, it looked so shiny and sometimes you could see your own image in the floor. Till now I have not seen any royal members. However it was told that assigned maids and servants were only allowed to visit the rooms of the royals. 

Right now we were walking to kitchen, Lucy, me and Aries ( a new maid). We entered into the kitchen. Lucy was describing me each and everything. She handed me over a book, where all the royal dishes names were written. Each dish was unique and when I looked for the recipes, it was long. As a beginner, I had to just start from dessert as my first cooking in the palace. They showed me each and every ingredients that were kept on the cupboard. I was bemused and confused to see 1000 of jars and each of those jars were filled with many cooking ingredients The kitchen looked like a hall. I wondered if kitchen was this much spacious and large, then how does a royalties room look like? I asked the same to Lucy but she replied that she had never seen it because only there were few maids who were permissible to enter. 

"If for once I get the chance to see." I wished just.

Anyways I heard today that very soon we the royal family were going to celebrate a birthday of Prince Enrique who was also known as future king. Lucy told me he was the eldest, handsome, young and charming in the whole palace. There were other cousins too but among all of them Enrique was the most famous and handsome. So all these three days I watched everybody busy in their works including Kamilla and Lucy. 

I was just trolling in the kitchen and that's when I heard a voice, they said head down, hands behind and no conversation. Royal secretary entered. 

"Tomorrow is a big day, everything should be perfect and great, no mistakes, no apologies. All the new maids and servants should we aware of the rules. Everyone should be told its position to stand and sit. Ball room is prohibited for everyone apart from those who are selected. " He made the announcement and left. Kamilla then entered and made all ten of us stand in a queue. She observed us for a minute and gave us a little task to perform. 

Since I joined as a new cook , I was told to cook a dish by following the recipe from the royal recipe book within thirty minutes. I done my task neatly and nicely as well as timely. She was impressed and asked my name. 

"Grace" I replied according to the promise I made to my mother before coming here. 

The palace had 500 to 600 soldiers who stood every day and night to protect this huge mansion.
