~~~khloe~~ 6:30 am and I was already at the Diner, fully ready to resume. I had been briefed by the woman I met yesterday. Before my military trainings began, I was a great cook. My dad did a great job in instilling the very act of culinary in me. He was also a great cook and at that time we had our own restaurant, just before mom fell ill and we had to sell everything we had. I didn't like to be reminded about her. I hated how much pain she had suffered before she died. She had been diagnosed with kidney failure. Both her kidneys had deteriorated before we could even find out. Dad and I spent our life savings on dialysis and a kidney transplant that failed. She died 6 months after and my father took off to the heels. I was just 18 at that time. I had to do several meaner jobs just to survive. 3 years later I was able to save up massively for military services that got me to where I was. I shook my head momentarily. Looking at the marble countertop that had large shelves behind it. On the shelves laid different wine glasses, spoons, fork, knives and different exotic wine. My job was to attend to customers order and take it into the kitchen for preparation if need be. I was also to serve drinks and coffee. It was a stressful job but I knew that I could manage. The last few years of my life had been eventful and my new job was just another spice. I loved the soulful music playing lowly through the speakers. It made the ambience of the place seem different, charged with peace and tranquillity that could make one feel safe. The soft chatters of people added a lighter mood to the place. This was obviously better than the job of a stripper. That goddamn job of a stripper made me do things way beyond my moral standings. I hated the job totally, but then I needed to meet with him and the truth was that if there were worse things to do I was going to do them. My thoughts had been disrupted by a customer who knocked his hands on the counter. I had been taken aback just standing there, pretty much unaware of the environment. “Hi good afternoon sir, you're welcome to Gloves Diner.” I said smiling, feeling embarrassed, waving my hands at his gesture. “Oops you look like you were in Pluto, I'm sorry for disturbing you.” He said smiling as he took the seat in front of the counter. He was about 5 to 6ft tall, He had broad shoulders that made his back seem hunched. He was an Italian obviously. He had the same accent like the HRM, only that hers was more fluent and she wasn't battling to speak. “I… I'm sorry, I was just…” I stammered but suddenly stopped when I felt the customer didn't need an explanation, his order was supposed to be taken. “What can I offer you?” I asked passing the menu to him. It took him about 5 minutes to decide on what he wanted. He came into the diner with his wife and two kids. So yeah, the order wasn't for one person. “Can you come over to table 10 and get their order? I came with my wife and kids, do you mind?” He asked with a smile on his face. He was just too polite. Of course, what else was I doing there? I laughed as I went past the counter. “Yeah, sure, I'm coming to you guys right now.” “Hey! Thanks.” He said as he walked back towards their table. I picked up the menu and went to get their orders. It was a long one as I shoved my hands into the apron, pulling out my note pad and a pen. “Alright sir and ma'am, I'd like to reconfirm your order if you don't mind.” I asked smiling, looking at both couples. “Yes, please go ahead, we'd love that.” “okay, yeah, So… 2 plates of french fries, Scotch eggs, roasted chicken, 3 glasses of juice, 2 bowls of Ice cream, 1 doughnut, A bottle of Pinot noir wine.” I smiled as I took my eyes off the note pad. “Is that it sir?” Meeting their gaze to be sure that I wasn't missing a thing. “Yes darling, that would be all for now.” The man said as he gestured to his wife for her consent. “If there's nothing else sir, permit me to leave you now. In less than 10 minutes your order will be brought to you but in the meantime, your drinks will be served.” I said bowing to leave. Shit!!! I was really good at everything. I smiled at myself, tucking my hair behind. I took a quick glance around, I had taken everyone's order. I went into the kitchen to deliver their order to the cook. And went to the shelves to pickup their juices and wine. Shortly after i was back at their table, with a tray holding the drinks and glasses. I placed them on the table. As I heard them whisper THANKS. The children danced excitedly as the drinks arrived. I was sure that they couldn't wait and it showed in their gestures. I raised my head as I smiled at them, enjoying whatever they were doing. Oops what a day! I said to myself as I turned to leave, pulling out an handkerchief to wipe the sweat that was forming on my forehead. It was just half the day and I was already exhausted. I sure needed a companion. It was too much a job for one person, I thought to myself, feeling angry and a bit frustrated. As I turned to clear the leftovers on the table a customer had left, The slide doors swing open. Two men In black tuxedo coat and Pant trousers entered. One of them stood at the door, keeping it suspended, open. Someone else walked in. He was dressed in black blazer and pant trouser. He wore black Cartier glasses that concealed his eyes. But as he pulled them off as he raised his head, walking past the door. It was my prey! Don Murreti of the El Dorado family…
