Lao Chen felt his palms were wet, and he could hardly hold the gun in his hand. He approached Room 602 silently, leaning against the wall and listening attentively. Suddenly, there was a loud noise in the room, as if something heavy had fallen, followed by rapid knocking sounds. A moment later, he heard a low sob again, and felt creepy instantly. Just as he was about to rush in, the iron door slammed shut.
"Xiao Zhang, come up quickly, there's something wrong!" Lao Chen hurriedly called Xiao Zhang, with unprecedented tension in his heart, and his hand holding the gun was almost numb. Time became extremely long in his heart, and only the suppressed crying was left in his ears, which seemed particularly harsh in this silent night, as if it was pouring out from the depths of darkness, tearing his nerves and suffocating him. Lao Chen looked at his watch, gritted his teeth, and secretly decided to wait another minute. If Xiao Zhang didn't show up again, he would have to break in alone.
Just when he was about to despair, there were hurried footsteps in the corridor. Xiao Zhang ran up panting, his clothes a little messy.
"What happened?" Lao Chen saw Xiao Zhang, although he looked panicked, but he was slightly relieved.
"Something tripped me in the corridor on the third floor, as if someone was grabbing me and not letting me go. I fell and kicked the thing to escape." Xiao Zhang's face was full of horror.
Lao Chen frowned, "Don't worry about that, open the door quickly."
Seeing Lao Chen's expression, Xiao Zhang's heart sank, and he quickly took out the tools and started to unlock the door. Lao Chen held the gun with both hands, watching the room vigilantly, his ears tight, afraid of missing any movement. In the darkness, only Xiao Zhang's busy unlocking sound and the low sobbing sound were disturbing.
The lock was finally opened, Lao Chen kicked the door open and rushed in quickly. Xiao Zhang immediately took out a flashlight, and the beam swept across the room, instantly making him feel sick: Su Yang curled up in front of the TV, hugging a pile of dried human limbs, crying softly. The maggots of the limbs were crawling on him, and next to him was a pair of disassembled speakers, and the limbs were poured out of the speakers!
Seeing the appearance of Lao Chen and Xiao Zhang, Su Yang still did not react. He sat there sluggishly, his face twisted, tears falling like raindrops, and he seemed to have lost his perception of the horror scene around him. He didn't even notice a maggot crawling on his face and drilling into his mouth.
Xiao Zhang's stomach churned and he almost vomited.
"Let's go!" Lao Chen almost rushed out with Xiao Zhang and immediately dialed the phone: "Criminal Police Team? This is Lao Chen. There is a new situation in Room 602 of Buyun Garden. We found the body. Please send someone over immediately." The light of the mobile phone illuminated Lao Chen's sweaty forehead.
"What should we do? Wait for the Criminal Police Team here?" Xiao Zhang asked in a trembling voice.
Lao Chen wiped the sweat from his forehead, "No, we have to pull Su Yang out. He is in danger every second in there."
"We? Pull him out?" Xiao Zhang glanced at the dark room 602 anxiously, and his heart trembled.
Lao Chen said nothing more, put the gun back to his waist, "Give me the flashlight."
Xiao Zhang hesitated for a moment, and was finally snatched away by Lao Chen, who then quickly entered room 602. "The worst that can happen is death." Xiao Zhang encouraged himself in his heart and gritted his teeth and followed in. Inside the room, Lao Chen illuminated with a flashlight while trying to clean up the maggots and limbs on Su Yang's body, and dragged him up with force. Xiao Zhang also stepped forward to help, pulled Su Yang out, and closed the door urgently. At the moment the door closed, Lao Chen heard another low sigh, which echoed faintly in the room, making his hair stand up.
Outside the door, Xiao Zhang was panting, Su Yang had stopped crying, sitting on the ground, his eyes empty, as if he had lost the whole world.
Xiao Zhang asked Lao Chen, panting, "What happened to him? Is he possessed by evil spirits?"
Lao Chen lit a cigarette, slowly exhaled smoke rings, and his mood eased a little. He stared at the closed door of 602, shook off the ash, and replied, "Anyway, we finally achieved our goal tonight, didn't we?"
Xiao Zhang opened his mouth, but said nothing more.
Soon, the criminal police team's support personnel arrived, still the five policemen from yesterday. With more people, they were bolder. Xiao Zhang opened the door and everyone entered together. The scene in front of them stunned them.
"I didn't expect that the body was hidden in the speaker." A policeman whispered.
Lao Chen squatted down and picked up a stump, and he was furious: "This murderer is so cruel! Not only did he kill people, but he also dismembered them and roasted them on the fire!" But some of the limbs seemed not roasted enough. After several months of rotting, maggots grew, and the stench of corpses filled the whole room.
Lao Chen's words shocked everyone present. Then, he walked into the kitchen and carefully checked the gas stove, and found dried grease at the bottom of the stove.
"By the way, where is her head? Why can't I see it?" Xiao Zhang screamed in the living room.
Lao Chen's heart sank suddenly, and he instantly thought of Chen Lijuan's missing head. "It seems that there is indeed a connection between the two."
Lao Chen walked out of the kitchen and saw Su Yang still sitting there.
"What's wrong with him?" a team member asked.
"Sleepwalking, or nightmare." Lao Chen replied in a low voice.
"Should we wake him up?"
"Don't do that. Knowing the truth will only make him collapse. It's best for him not to remember anything." Lao Chen turned to Xiao Zhang and said, "Send him home. Remember, don't wake him up. If he wakes up, don't tell him what happened tonight. Even if he has questions, just say he was sleepwalking on the street. If you saw him, send him back."
Xiao Zhang responded with an "oh" and pulled Su Yang up. Su Yang's eyes were still straight and his hands and feet were stiff. If he hadn't seen him walking and crying before, Xiao Zhang really felt that he was dragging a zombie.
Xiao Zhang couldn't help but turn his head and ask Lao Chen: "Do you think that all these things at night are really Zhu Su's ghost attracting us here?"
"I still don't believe in ghosts." Lao Chen said seriously, "If you really want a reasonable explanation, then I would rather believe that it was Su Yang's subconscious that summoned him back to 602."
