VELVET RED: BEGINNING

Today I was tasked with going out for grocery shopping. I head down to the local supermarket and start doing as I am meant to do.I am literally talking to myself as I listen to Bjork , so dorky.I am dressed in XXL cargo combat pants and a XXL t-shirt plus baseball boots. My hair is a mess as usual.

As I go through the pews , I take notice of Gray and Casey.I pull back and hide. I take a peep from the edge and stare at them.They look so good together and this makes me so jealous. Today Casey is wearing a pair of jean shorts , a camisole and a sweater. She looks so gorgeous without even trying too hard.She looks into my direction and I hide . I hope she hasn't noticed me yet. I sneak through the pews and get to the section of tinned foods. I decide to pick out the cans of Brussels sprouts. As I look on to pick up the last can , my eyes loom onto two eyes looking straight at me. The eyes of the man I so desperately desire to have for my own. I goggle at him and turn to walk away. Unfortunately , I slip and hit the next shelf before falling onto my back and humiliating myself before him. Everyone laughs at me.

I scramble to get up and do my walk of shame to the cashier's desk and clearing before flouncing out of the supermarket. When I get home , my mom is around.

"Where in the hell were you? You took so damn long. Will I be able to make my casserole on time?"

" Maybe you should do hash instead."

"Oh, a great idea."

She starts cooking and I head to my bedroom as usual.I meet my little brother , Joe, on the way.

"Hey Noa wanna hear a joke?"

"Not in the mood now, skit."

"What has two left feet and looks like a f****d up hipster?"

"Whatever."

"Its you dumb ass."

He laughs and I push his head and go into my room.I head into my playlist and look for the perfect song to match my mood. I find one that I play aloud for the whole world to hear.Fortunately , it's the moment when Andrew , my ex, calls , hooray!

"Hey , What's up?" I say.

"Why didn't you call me? I was your first, remember?"

"I've been busy. What do you want?"

"Aren't you gonna ask about how I am doing? I got a new girlfriend and she is so hot. You gotta see her............"

I am cut from the conversation when I put the phone down and head to my window. There is no sign of Gray today. After dinner , I head out to take out the trash in the backyard. I am hauled back as I enter the house by Casey.

"What is up with you?"she asks me.

"Erm ,I don't understand what you're talking about."

"You wretched b***h. Why are you stalking Gray and I?"

"I don't do no such thing.?"

"Shut up.What about the supermarket incident , huh? This is not the first time I've caught you staring at my man. What do you want from him?"

"Nothing. It was a coincidence."

"Now listen to me, Noa. No matter what you do , Gray will never look upon you the way he does to me.He will never love you because you are too hideous. You are so ugly and I don't know why God created mistakes like you. '

'Casey , you have no right to call me names in my home... "

"I can do what I want where I want to. I am pretty and sexy, unlike you without a fashion direction. You're a no body."

"I am not a no body."

"If you're not, then prove it. See you can't even try. Do your s**t and leave Gray alone. He was never meant for a skunk like you."

She throws her hair and sashays off to her house. I dash to my bedroom and lock myself in it. I cry and cry again and again. It isn't the first time I face such things anyway.But today she was so mean to me.I didn't expect her to be so cold to me, though what she says is true. I have a low life and she is a pageant queen. A huge difference between two close people. This world , no balance my friend.
