Chapter 3The forest was just starting to filter light as we continued down our path. I didn’t know how long we were going to be on the path, or even if the path was heading in the right direction. I had no idea if we were heading toward civilization or not, I just had to trust my shifter companion.
“How long do we have to go?”
“I have no idea.” He was sheepish. “I’m just trying to look confident to keep you from freaking out.”
I scoffed. “Really? I’ve been trusting you.”
Still my humor wasn’t that badly damaged. To tell the truth, I was really relaxed from the night before. I stretched and rubbed my wrist. The cuff was starting to chafe. That didn’t feel good at all. I looked down and I could see the blood.
