WHY CAN'T WE PRAY?
Is it because we think we have too many sins?
And Allah may not be able to grant us forgiveness?
Is it because we feel we're too young to be serious?
Is it because of the friends who had us influenced?
Why can't we start praying the obligatory prayers?
Is it because we haven't memorized the words to utter?
Or perhaps because we find it very inconvenient
With the studies and pile of work to finish?
Why can't we pray when there's still time?
No other reasons except the laziness of ours.
Or maybe we consider ourselves not that religious
Prayers won't matter as long as we're good to others.
But who are we to declare that we are excused?
From doing what Allah said we should
Who are we to say that we cannot do it
When Allah is the Wise, the All - Knower.
The Prophet (s.a.w) had said that prayers clean our body, heart and soul
Like a man who bathe in a river that flows
And in praying, we find the coolness of our hearts and eyes
We reflect Allah's signs that can never be denied.
Haven't we known that praying five times make one a Muslim
So if we don't pray, we're one of the kafirs?
Haven't we known that tawbah erases all previous sins?
But to have that, we must start praying.
If Allah is pleased with us, HE will not only forget our mountain of wrong deeds
But mercifully convert them into a mountain of good deeds
Then there's that chance we'll be able to enter Paradise
And save ourselves from the punishment of Hell Fire.
We cannot say that tomorrow we'll start doing sujood
Because life's too short to set aside the work of good
Grab a pamphlet here or ask a believer there
Memorize and understand in order to do salah better.
If we're too busy or too lazy to worship our Maker
Then please reflect as to who is the Bestower
Of the work we have or the bed we lay
Aren't we ashame at all to miss out our prayers?
If we can't say no to our friends, sacrificing our prayers
Then we can never be true believers
Because in the Qur'an it has been mentioned
Those who find it easy to be firm in their religion.
When we die, we only have one friend on our side
He will be with us until the day of Qiyamah
He is our deeds and he'll be with us in the grave
An ugly being with a foul smell if in this world, we haven't prayed.
Don't we want to talk to our Lord?
Don't we want to live a life with a purpose?
Aren't we tired of chasing our useless desires?
Is it not about time now to change our lives?
Islam is submission
Islam is the perfect religion
Islam is the truth
And yet we can't make sujood?
So the question isn't on why won't we pray
But on why can't we pray?
But we can, so we must and we should
Everyone can pray including the crippled.
Let us get up and make the wudu
Stand and glorify the Lord of All Worlds
Bow down in humble prostration and call out to HIM
Only then can we feel that peace and serenity from within.
Ameen.
