The Arabs preached impunity, dishonesty, stealing and cheating. Chief Mtwafy, who became a true disciple and a stooge of the Arabs, discarded his chieftain’s traditional regalia of colorful monkey skin hat and gowns, replacing them with Arab turbans and white robes. He totally converted into Arab faith. He despised and looked down upon his heathen natives. He spent most of the time confiding, colluding and conspiring with the Arabs.
His open courtyard, at his homestead that served as an open court to settle community disputes, a public meeting place for elders and social functions, became out of bounds to the natives.
