*** Evony Pov ***
Attempting to open my eyes, the lights felt so bright and my eyelids felt so droopy, I squeezed them shut again. Why did my limbs feel so heavy? Am I floating? Think Evony, think? What is the last thing I remember? The smell, like a cool breeze on a spring day just after it rained, Devion. He is close by. I'm not floating, I am being carried by him. The bouncing up and down, the feel of his chest against me, as he panted, while running? He was running? Why? Why can't I feel my toes and fingers yet? Okay Evy, try to open your eyes again, carefully! Slowly, there we go, girl, blink a few times. Yes! Okay, all I see is the underside of the most perfect beard ever, attached to the side profile of the most loving man in my life at the moment. Then, those damned florescent lights! Reminds me of those lights you see in a hospital. Hospital! My eyes opened wider, slightly raising my head, I realized we were headed for the door. I wanted to scream no, ask where's Bren, where's my flame, but I couldn't. The only noise that came from my battered throat was a whimper.
Somehow that little sound reached Dev's ears, above all the screaming, hollering, the alarm still blared, as my sense of hearing slowly returned to me, along with my state of awareness. "He's here. He's safe. The others have him. You did a number on them Fairy. You rest now, we've got the rest handled. You truly are a miracle," he huffed out to me, while keeping up his sprint.
A miracle. What did I do? What do they have to handle? I need to remember why I am in such a weakened state. Did the previous elemental emerge? I closed my eyes again, this time in the hope that my memories would return to me. When they didn't, I decided to trust my elementals to protect my physical being, while I did a little digging around in my own mind using my own powers on myself........

**** Devion Pov ****
Feeling Evony's body getting heavier, like she's lost consciousness again. I hoped that she took my advice and rested. That was the most amazing and scary thing I have ever witnessed. They all had it coming to them. Now to get out of here. What I saw made me very sure I never want to piss her off or be in her bad books. However, I do hope she doesn't realize the lie I told her about Bren.

**** Cannon Pov ****
"Think I saw Evony raise her head a bit just now," I grunted, carrying a dead weight, skin still simmering with heat. It was not easy.
Addanon groaned, "Focus, ow!"
"Sorry," I apologised. I could literally smell the burnt flesh all around us. The screaming, the alarm, it was all sensory overload. Charred walls, even up here. Nothing but utter destruction. The world did not work this way. We can't just leave the place like this. Anyone investigating what happened tonight will immediately believe we were in the wrong, if we're tagged. With this thought, I said to Addanon, "I will help you all settle down once we're near the car, but we can't leave right away and I need to come back in here."
"Are you mental? No freaking way. We need to get away from here. There are two dead bodies. Far away Cannon!" he shouted above the malay.
"Listen to me!" I retorted, "I have to erase all the security footage, anything that could link us to here. Also, all the information and files that are kept. I'll copy any incriminating files. We have to cover our asses. This may not be our people's realm, but it's the one we live in. I will be damned if tonight is the reason any of us go down. Now, if you are worried about time, are you good at going on your own so we could speed up this process?"
He looked at me with something I couldn't quite place. "Do you have everything you need?" he asked, when I confirmed by patting my right pant pocket, he aggressively demanded, "You better hurry the f0ck up, and be safe. You understand. She can't lose another one of us. Go, I got it from here."
He nodded at me and continued on.
Devion looked back, realizing that his safety net was stretching. He saw me, looked me in the eyes and noted my determination not to move forward. He looked towards Addanon, hobbling forward. Gave me a nod and released me from the bubble. Watching them leave, wishing there was someone else that could do this, I made my way back down the hall, through the maze-like corridors. While dodging the deranged population, I pulled out the device, of my own making, from my pocket. I immediately selected the file, with the information on the facility. Yes, blueprints. I knew from what Kronos told me that they had their own central processing and storage unit. Connected to only a personal sever. I questioned at first why would a mental hospital need something like that. I know now it was because of all the illegal experiments they were doing. I looked around me at the few stragglers, feeling pity for the way they were treated and hoped death would be kind to them, sooner rather than later.
Using my key trick once more was out of the question. I ended up in front of a large, blue, double door that had a pin access control panel to enter. Sh!t! This is going to be a little harder than I thought. Lining up my device, it scanned the panel, then proceeded to closer inspection. Once completed, the most used, worn out numbers were displayed on my screen. The amount of combinations it could potentionably be, made me want to scream my lungs out. Think Can think. Okay, breathe, count backwards from ten. Great, mini-panic attack, diverted. Now what would Dad do? Why was there protection for this room? Duh, because there was sensitive information, illegal testing on humans and the capturing of an Elemental. They were all Fatum. Looking at the numbers again, two, three, six and eight. Only four numbers, but what if one of the numbers was used twice in the code?
I punched in the numbers, spelling Fatum, and they slid open. Seriouly? Not very smart are they? I entered and got to work. Connecting my device to the main frame, it began siphoning and sending all the information straight to Kronos. Around thirty-five percent, I heard a noise close by. Like someone was banging on a door. I looked at the screen again, gritting my teeth, when I saw it only moved two points. The banging came again. This time with a feminine childlike scream. Oh Can, you made a promise. Don't! The police are probably on their way already. If someone needed help, they would assist. The sound came again. With the muffled sound of the alarm so far away from the main area, I could hear the crying. I glared at the now forty-three percent, silently threatening that it had better be done by the time I got back. I went in search of the person.
Knowing full well this could be another mental patient, maybe a violent one, I kept my guard up. Approaching the door that was being hammered on, I sucked in my breath, noting this white iron door, while not as sophisticated as the other, still was a key card situation. "Please help me. I can sense you. Help me please....." came a childlike voice from behind the door. Begging me, "They took me from my parents. They told me they were dead. I..... I just want to go home..... Please can you help me?"
"Uhhhh....... just a moment, okay. The door isn't exactly user-friendly, but I need to know, what were they doing to you here? Did they give you any injections, or pills to swallow?" I replied. I may want to help, but I am not daft.
"No mister. Nothing like that. They used to take me to see a sad sleepy boy. He looked something like Mr. Choi's big son, from the restaurant. My mummy used to take me to eat noodles there." she instantly started crying again.
They were making her visit Bren? Why? "Okay, listen to me carefully. I need you to move as far away from the door as possible. To the back of the room, on the other side of where the door is. Do you understand?" I instructed.
"Yea mister, I did it. I am not near the door anymore," she answered.
She did sound further away, so I began my plan. I hope this crazed idea works. First I froze the key card slot, enough to knock it off. Then, with much more finesse, I focused on the lock itself. After freezing that, I aimed my energy at the hinges. Alright now for some brute strength. For good measure, and needed protection, I froze my fists and smashed the hinges. The lock broke with the weight and the door, instead of falling into the room like I hoped, it came at me. I dodged in time, only hearing a loud bang of it hitting the floor.
I turned around, ready to fight off whatever was behind that door. Opening the last one didn't exactly give me much confidence. While I was ready to use whatever last reserve I had to protect myself, I saw a sniffling little girl walk out. Her hair was as green as the healthiest leaves I ever saw. There were flowers in them. Her skin, as brown and rough as tree bark, with fully blue eyes, no white. Wearing a pink nightgown with a bunny rabbit stuffed toy in her arms. I backed away immediately, more from shock rather than fright.
"I'm sorrwe, I thought you were like me. I felt safe when you spoke to me. Daddy told me to trust that feeling. So I thought you were special like me and I didn't need to hide," she whimpered, with her head down. Oh Can, you piece of cr@p. You made a little girl self-conscious.
"Hey, hey no, it's okay, little one. You don't have to be shy. I just...... um.......... I'm an elemental. I serve the Fatum queen. Do you know about her? Well, I promise we will take care of you. We can try to help you find your parents too. What do you say?" I attempted to console her, babbling on, while kneeling to appear more on her level, hating that I had no experience with children, apart from the demon spawn, who were my step-siblings.
"A queen? The bad man used to ask me if I was one. I told nuh uh, that I was my daddy's little princess, but he wouldn't listen. He would just yell at me and throw me back in there," she admitted softly, while pointing at the room she had just come out of. I peered in, noting a bed with a chest of drawers, along with a tiny table and chair. It was all pink.
"Well, we have to go now. I have something I need to collect and we can go meet my friends outside. Do you have anything you need from your room, sweetie?" I asked more to be polite and avoid any tantrums. She shook her head no, pointing at the bunny. Guess she doesn't like much else in there. Well, it was her prison, I mused. Standing up, I stretched my hand out for her to hold. I felt surprised at the soft feel of her hand in mine. When I looked back at her, I saw an ordinary, brown-haired, dark-brown-eyed, tanned little girl.
She looked up at me and explained, "I don't want you to be scared of me. You are nice."
"I am not scared sweetie, but I think this look is best for now. Until we are safe, alright? Then you can keep whatever form you like, because I think your adorable in either one," I encouraged. The smile I received, in turn, warmed me up.
We walked towards the first room. I nearly jumped like a little kid on Christmas when I saw ninety-nine point nine percent on the screen hit one hundred the moment I was close enough to check the screen. I yanked out the cord, slipped the device back into my pocket. Pulling a cuff link from my shirt, I placed it on the main frame. My tiny companion stood in place while looking at every movement I made. I sent a voice message to Kronos on my smartwatch. I grabbed the munchkin, only now realising she was barefooted and made to hightail it out of there. Clearly being more imaginative than me or motivated due to the discomfort she felt with the bouncing around in my arms, little one suggested, "This would be more fun and faster if you were roller skating."
I stopped, looked at her and grinned. I put her down, raised my legs and, one by one, I forged with ice, blades. I grabbed her again, and started sending out enough frost ahead of us to form a thin layer of ice for me to skate on. Winking at her, she giggled and I set off. Forget the blaring alarm, crazy people I had to maneuver around, while concentrating on not falling on my a$$, seeing as I hadn't been skating for some time, never with an additional squirming being. Said being, squeals, giggles and all round noise right in my ear, was the sensory overload of the century. I stopped on the ice trail a few meters before the door and came to a shaky stop. More due to not realising that the beep on my watch went off, signalling the mini explosion my cuff link set off back at the processor, than my lack of practice.
Tiny had a vice grip on me and started shaking. With no time to calm her down, I just held her tighter. Trying to smash the blades off my three thousand dollar shoes. When that didn't work, I imagined it melting, which it did. Making my way to the door, I noticed they had driven up the driveway to meet me. The gremlin suddenly giggled, causing me to look behind. What I saw made me want to laugh too. If it wasn't for the life-altering, traumatic events that led us to this point, I might have. The few patients not so far-gone, were slipping and sliding on the puddle left behind by my ice trail. One was licking it, gross.
Once at the car, the door opened with a wide-eyed Addanon, staring at the package in my arms. "Take her," I barked at him. Once he had her, I got my device out. Reconnecting to the major networks, all their security cameras and systems were on. I erased all footage on the compound for today, simultaneously, informing Kronos that he had to erase all traffic footage within a ten mile radius once we left the vicinity. I wanted no reason or room for doubt. No way for anyone to know we were on our way here or left here.
The signal for completion alerted me to scramble into my car and, with the door slammed, Slade, my driver, shot off.
With the adrenaline wearing off and all the energy I used, I felt like I needed a two-day nap. Still attempting to get my breathing to slow and my mind to stop over thinking, I instructed Slade to take us to the safe house. Finally, paying attention to my surroundings, I noticed the three people who were conscious staring at me.
"Well, I got everything they had. We could access them later. See if there was anything we could use. I believe I erased everything, but just in case, I blew up the main frame. Don't worry about any camera footage. The last twenty-four hours were scrubbed and well, where we're going, not even my Papa knows about it. So we will be safe," I explained, despite feeling exhausted.
"Are you okay, mister? You wook a wittle blue," my little damsel in distress pointed out.
"I'm fine, sweetie. Come here," I requested gently. She scrambled from Addy's arms to mine and cuddled up. "What's your name, princess?"
"Willow. Daddy says it's because my hair wooks like the tree," she informed.
"Pretty name for a pretty girl. The guy who was holding you, he's Addanon or Addy for short, alright. That guy over there, that's Devion or Dev for short. I'm Cannon. You can call me Canny, if you want. They will keep us safe. I promise. I just need to sleep for a little," I told her, feeling myself becoming drowsier by the second.
Being the sensible little thing she is, she only nodded and pecked my cheek, saying it was cold and goodnight. I watched her safely go back to Addanon and looked at Evony, seeing her eyes moving under the lids frantically like she was having a nightmare. Drifting off I hoped it wasn't.

**** Evony's Pov ****
Seeing now, what I had done. I understood Dev's words. I went in, with my own version of guns slinging and didn't hold back. I wonder how the others felt about me. Seeing what I was capable of. Addy must hate me more. Cannon will never look at me gently again. Dev, I choked with emotion at the thought of him not touching me again. How am I capable of that? Is what Many said true? Could I become the very thing I was meant to fight?
I was so happy that I was able to get to Bren, not really thinking or preparing myself for whatever state he would be in once I did. Many, came forth and told me how to fix the situation, but even she couldn't help me calm down, after I saw what happened to Bren. I feel sick to my stomach, reliving the destruction I caused. The life lost. But, the most shiver inducing moment, the part when I felt like I was just an outsider looking in at my body possessed , was when I replied to her warning with, I crave violence.
