Feeling Agitated

Cannon’s Pov It killed me to have to inform her of what happened to Bren. My memory then went to his letters. He was intelligent, well read and sarcastic, but the funny kind. My Dad liked each of them for their own special personalities, but always said that if he had the choice he would adopt Bren. I remember being surprised that it was not Addanon, seeing as he was the one that took my Dad’s pain away, even going as far as telling him so. He simply informed me that he would have liked to have us all, should situations be different, but Brennon was the one he said that reminded him of me. He was sure we would stick together and most likely be brotherly compared with the others. I told him I disagreed. I appreciated Devion’s maturity more, he tutted at that. “Of course you enjoy it,” he said while rolling his eyes, hand on his left hip, wagging his long pointer finger at me, “I find myself married to a man who has that quiet safety net-like presence as well. However, where Carter is only that way for me,” pointing to himself with a devious smile, “Devion would be that way for everyone,” he concluded with a nod of his head, as though to punctuate his own thoughts, only to start up again. “He is a kind, generous, old soul,” he continued in the voice that sounded like he was in a romantic movie, then continued in a fortune-teller like persona, “That you will quicker look up to and challenge, rather than have comradery with.” All I got from that conversation was that I was right to believe Bren would be someone that could give me a run for my money. My own Dad saw it. Now all I hoped for was my guy-in-the-chair, otherwise known as, Kronos, to get me Brennon’s location and a way to get him out, without raising any red flags. All this, before Evony’s sobbing gets worse. The clouds have already begun to gray and I did not have the heart to point that out. She was closest to Devion when I read out the article, so there she remained, in his arms, trying her best to keep calm. “Wow, the weather changed so quickly,” Addanon exclaimed, making Evony gasp, shift out of her cocoon of safety to peer out the window and attempt to stifle her misery. Making me feel like hitting him hard. He is as uncouth and barbaric as I remember. “Thank you captain obvious. Tell me, does your brain have any other lights on, other than the dull one you have clearly over used?” I snapped at him. No longer able to accept his insensitivity, nor the hurt he keeps unconsciously or purposefully throwing Evony’s way. “Geez, Cannon, all I did was comment on the weather,” the blundering buffoon replied. “Stop, don’t fight,” I heard her say in the tiniest restrained voice. Looking over to her, she was back in Devion’s arms, cuddled against him, “He doesn’t know or understand. It’s not his fault,” sniffling, she addressed Addanon, “My emotions, the strong, mostly negative ones. They affect the weather, here. If it were our realm, no matter what, the atmosphere is tied to the ruler. So our people will always know my primary feelings. For this mortal realm, my magic is strong, no matter how much I do my best to reign it in. I grew up here. Tied into here. So my guardian and the elders believe that is why I can do it here too. On a smaller scale, of course. Only a twenty mile radius if so much.” “Only? That’s a pretty big area to cover. Plus, you said you’re more powerful with us by your side. So if you don’t stop crying, could you flood the place?” Addanon asked, making me wish I could shut that hole in his face. Why wasn’t he the one locked up? I would have taken my time, looking for his a$$ for sure. “Shut up!” I hissed, “We are in a public place. Also, nothing you say is thoughtful or even helpful. Do us all a favor and stop hurting her, like a perpetual child. I don’t know how you are ignoring it and, to be honest, I don’t care. For all we know, you don’t even have one. But, we do. Devion and I can feel every little prick you make at her. Our bond with her grew even in her absence, and now it is stronger, since she has touched us. I am now warning you, I don’t like the feeling. Next time you feel like issuing a scathing phrase or romantic information, zip your lips.” Devion looked at me appreciatively and I realized he just did not want to cause more problems by speaking, but it was getting to him too. Evony at some point buried her face in his chest and did not look like she had intentions of saying or doing anything. I am sure it is quite overwhelming for her as well. The moment my car pulled into the street, I began feeling connected to her. After the hug, I have a permanent water based line with her that is only visible when I willed it, but I feel it there, feeding into her. Probably taking as well, for all I know. Sigh.... A few minutes of silence and I began to bounce my leg. Feeling agitated due to the entire situation, staying in this location for so long, not being able to hold or comfort Evony myself, because I am working towards getting one elemental out of psych lock down, while stopping someone who is supposed to be helping, from making the situation worse. I remembered something from the information my Dad left for me. "Evony," I called gently, knowing I'm only feeling a fraction of the despair she is, she tilted her head up. Even the sulking teen-toddler sat up, interested in looking at her. I scoffed. Couldn't help it, could you? Wasn't he the one that talked about a girlfriend like she is so important? "Sprite, I need you to think really hard. Is there any way you could locate another elemental or an elemental can locate you? Other than us? One that isn't yours?" Most adorable thinking face ever. How could one who looks so innocent be so undeniably formidable? "I don't believe it would be possible, even if it did have another elemental walking this realm. As far as I know, the queen before me had only two elementals. Air and Fire. My guardian, Fero, is the seedling of the Air. As for the Fire, I never really heard much about him. No one in the plaine, where we all stay, speaks of him. If he were nearby, I am sure I would sense his core. He would know I was the queen if he set his eyes on me. However, to connect no. Locate no. I am sure. An elemental core is linked to their queen. Fate made it so, as they wield great power, but should not be more powerful or be able to over power the queen herself." Evony replied. "Hold on, Fairy. What do you mean, by that, you know for the class...." Devion inquired, gesturing to himself and Addanon, as he presumed, I knew about this. I did not! "In a nutshell, you aren't exactly Fatum. Fatum are magical creatures, in tune with flora and fauna, basically of the earth. Mortals call our kind many things: fae, fairies , the old people, for example. What elementals are, is exactly what your name says. Elemental is not only a name for your type, it is what you are. You see the magic that dwells within you is from the earth's core itself. Fate gifts you physical forms, to aid her chosen queen, to protect the land," the little sprite just dropped a shell bomb on us and looked as though this was common knowledge. "Are you saying that I am literally earth and this body? Is what, on loan to me?" Addanon questioned. For once, a valid question. "No. Don't be silly. This body was infused with magic and a core given to it, to control the ground, and everything that grows from it. As those are also physical manifestations of you. As with Cannon, he is every lake, ocean, even sewer, any water found on the planet. You are these things. You're connected directly to the source, because you are the source. It's easier to communicate this way. So, over time, you have taken humanoid forms," she explained further, making my head hurt. "How do we, or the core of us choose which baby or soul or whatever, to go into?" Devion curiously asked. "Fate helps the core choose........For the magic to hold, Fero mentioned that there has to be one full blooded Fatum parent and the mate must have Fatum ancestery," she sighed and continued, "I made a grave mistake going against Fate," tearing up, "Because she brought you all to me, I know now it was to prevent this from happening and I was stupid enough to not listen.... I just wanted you to live free for a while. Not be in servitude at such a young age. My whole life was training, lessons, no fun. I had no spare time, no friends. I didn't want that for you......... Now I know that we would have been each other's friends' had I not been so stubborn...." letting a few stray tears fall, she sniffed, head bowed, her curls curtaining her heart-shaped face from our view, "I am the reason you have all this hate in you," facing Addanon, who in turn clenched his fists and grimaced. "I am the reason, you didn't allow yourself to have a home," gazing at Devion with her bright aqua marine eyes, still dripping, before he could wipe them away for her, she turned to me. "I'm sure, your anxiety is my fault as well. The things you must have had to do, endure, mourn on your own, after your Dad died, it all could have been avoided," she whispered sadly. "I was so wrong to doubt Fate, test her and now I am paying the price. I need Bren...........please my Lake, please help me find him............I will never test Fate again...... I will obey," a wracking sob pulled through her, as she leaped towards me in a quick motion, landing in my lap, clasping onto my jacket. I held her then, focused on hushing her and telling her that I would, whilst rubbing one hand up and down on her back, and the other clasped at the back of her neck, my restless fingers twirling her hair. Nothing will stop me, I promised her. Addanon turned away, wiping his face. While Devion looked at her, as though she became even more beautiful due to the apology. "We don't need an apology. You were a little girl. All you knew at that time, was that you didn't wish the life you had on us and it was with good intentions you sent us away. I cannot regret having learnt my trade, working for Papa Bouche, or being a brother to Marcus. I helped a lot of foster kids, in my time. If you had taken me away, none of that would have happened," Devion admitted while reaching across to wipe away her fresh tears, while she searched his face, making sure he was being sincere. Not feeling like I wanted to be out done, I turned her to me. "The few extra years I had with my Dad, rather than months thanks to you and Addanon, were worth more to me than the entire universe. I should apologize to you. Had I the choice, as much as I was devoted to you, from the moment we met, contrary to my behavior," I winked, giving her my impish smile, then continued, when she a gave a sweet giggle,"I would have wanted to stay with him. I needed those years. My anxiety helped me prepare for you. For all of us. With my resources... that I accumulated due to my anxiety, are going to get us Bren. No matter what Sprite, you gave us a chance. Now we know our choices and, as you can see, Devion and I choose you." I kissed her forehead, feeling like I have just completed a triathlon, in first place. I am a competitive f0cker geez.... Before I could say more, my phone started ringing on the table. Evony reached over and answered, placing it near my ear, all so naturally, like we were always in this position. Not proud of the girly squeal I made in my mind. "Yea,............ yup,.......... okay email it over. I have a judge already. I will have the info sent directly from the psychiatrist, no trail to us. Yes Kronos, it's my tech............ I know what to do........... Just get your part done," I finished the call. Telling everyone that we should pack up and head to my car, that we had a lead on Bren and I would give details, on the way, of the plan. Evony stood up and attempted to smooth her hair, which only made me want to snicker. Those curls looked like they were never tamed. Though this gave me the opportunity to truly appreciate all her curves, in her black V-neck crop top with purple butterfly wings perfectly placed to make a man jealous, and purple high waist cargo pants, making my own begin to tighten. She is by far no means model thin. In fact, she has full arms, thick thighs and most likely has a tiny pouch, giving shelter to the one place on her I would definitely have to earn access to. I start salivating at the thought of what she would taste like. Devion's voice broke me out of my lust-filled stupor, asking Evony about a force field. That's when I remembered we have been in a public space all this time. Having these sensitive conversations and airing out our dirty laundry. Wait, force field? I saw her close her eyes, replying to him that she would keep us invisible to everyone's mind until we left the area and he could take it down if he liked. So Devion practically had us in an air dome, this entire time, with Evony's assistance, making the employees and other patrons believe we had left. Wonder how long they'd done it? Then decided to ask, as we were leaving, the Sprite looked at me with one raised eyebrow, and answered in a calm tone that would have intimidated a lesser man, "Since we received our drinks and that thirsty thot would not stop looking over at us, as though she had forgotten something or wanted someone. I waited until she went to the back, made the manager and customers see us pay and leave, while drawing from Devion to shield us to give us the privacy we required. Problem?" I shook my head no in response, noting the tone. Evony was clearly still upset about the waitress not caring that she was with us and the pathetic failed attempts at flirting. I freaking love being whatever the hell we were, I thought as we left with no one, none the wiser. Now time to get Bren.................
