Into the fire

Episode Eight – “Into the Fire” Amara and Jaden slipped through back alleys, their footsteps quick but careful. The city’s lights blurred around them, but the danger was crystal clear someone was hunting them. They reached a small, rundown safe house tucked between abandoned buildings. Jaden pulled out a set of keys and unlocked the door, ushering Amara inside. “Here, I can access the flash drive safely,” he said, setting up his laptop on a battered table. Amara’s fingers trembled as she handed over the device. The room was cramped and dimly lit, but she felt a strange sense of relief at least for now. Jaden connected the drive and started typing rapidly. Lines of code and files scrolled across the screen. “Got it,” he muttered, pulling up encrypted documents. “This isn’t just corruption. It’s a whole network of powerful people laundering money, rigging elections, and silencing anyone who gets in their way.” Amara’s eyes widened. “This is bigger than I imagined. If this gets out” “They’ll come after you harder than before,” Jaden interrupted. “Which is why we need a plan.” Suddenly, a sharp noise echoed outside footsteps approaching fast. “We’re not alone,” Jaden warned, grabbing a small pistol from under the table. Amara’s breath hitched. “What do we do?” “Stay quiet,” Jaden whispered. “And trust me.” The door rattled as someone tried to force it open. The fight for the truth had only just begun.
