The Stranger's warning

Episode Three – The Stranger’s Warning The morning sun rose like any other, but Amara felt different. She had barely slept. Her thoughts kept circling back to him the stranger who knew her name and vanished like smoke. At school, her best friend Zuri immediately noticed. “You’re spaced out again,” Zuri said, nudging her with an elbow. “You okay?” Amara hesitated. Then nodded. “I’m fine.” But she wasn’t. Not when her world was slowly shifting. After class, she took the long route home hoping, or maybe dreading, that she’d run into him again. And she did. He was waiting. Leaning against a tree, arms crossed, eyes watching her like he was reading every layer of her soul. “You’re following me,” she accused. He chuckled softly. “That’s funny. I was just about to say the same.” Amara folded her arms. “Who are you?” For a moment, he was quiet. Then he said, “I’m the person who might just save your life… if you listen.” “Save me? From what?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. He stepped closer. “From the storm that’s coming. Your name is on someone’s list, Amara. And I don’t think you know what that means yet.” Her blood ran cold. “I don’t have time for games,” she said.
