CHAPTER 2- THE HIDDEN FOREST

1119 Words
20 years Later SAOIRSE (PRONOUNCE AS SER-SHA) I used to hear from my Nana how peaceful the land of Merigon is. The law and order of Merigon started to crumbled years ago when the Dragon Alpha and the ruler of the land went missing and the ancient Gamphir, King Faustus take over the land, that's according to my Nana. But no one believes my Nana, they all said that she's just a crazy old woman who keeps on mumbling things about the myth of the Dragon Alpha. They said that there's no such thing as Dragon Alpha. "You have to find him," Nana said while she's trying to catch her breath. Half of her body was burned in a fire when a dragon burned our town, led by the men of Faustus. "Stop talking Nana, you have to save your breath. we need to get out of here," I cried while dragging my Nana into the nearest forest to hide from the dragon that keeps on breathing fire to burn our town. I put my Nana on my back to carry her and immediately run into the forest. Those who survived by the fire were killed by the Gamphirs by the sword, some of them are fed to the werewolves and vampires that's why we need to keep away from that place. They left nothing but dead bodies and burned everything into the ground. This is what they did to those who go against the will of King Faustus.  I run as fast as I could to get away from the Gamphirs. Thanks to my werewolf blood, I'm much stronger than a usual human. I have extra ordinary strength and healing abilities. I don't know where I am going, I just continue running endlessly. After minutes of running, I finally saw a light, I don't know where the light is heading I just run towards it without thinking, all that matters to me is to save my grandmother. I looked back for a second to check if there's someone following me but I don't see anything, even the burning town where I came from was out of sight. It seems like I entered a completely different dimension. I decided to slow down and catch my breath. I slowly put down my grandmother so I can check on her. "Nana, we need to treat your wound," I said to her when I finally lay her down on the ground. I check her wounds, she gained a third-degree burn from the fire. I looked around to find some herbal medicine to treat her wounds. I was about to stand up when she reached my hand and stopped me. "No need my child, it is already my time," she huskily said. "What are you talking about Nana? You just got burned, I can treat that. I just have to find some herbal medicine around."  "It's no use, Saoirse," she replied then slowly raised her shirt to reveal the wood that's stuck to her stomach. She probably got it when the roof fell onto her during the fire at their house before she saved her from it. I just got home from work at that time when the attack happened. "Oh no, Nana. Please don't do this. Let me treat your wound, please at least let me try," I pleaded to her. "Don't fret, my child. My purpose is done, I already taught you everything you need to know to survive. It is now time for you to go on to your destined path," she said while gasping for breath. "No! Please Nana, don't leave me. I don't know what to do without you." "You need to find him, my child. He's the last hope of Merigon. It is your destiny to bring him back and claimed what is rightfully his," Nana explained while she continues to gasp for air. "What are you talking about, Nana?" I replied. "The last Dragon Alpha, you need to find him and convince him to save the land of Merigon." "He's a myth, Nana. Stop talking about him, we should focus on tending your wound. Please let me treat you Nana," I cried as I pleaded her to let me treat her. I can't just let her die. "He's not a myth, the Dragon Alpha exists and it is your destiny to find him. It's fine, my child. I can finally be with your mother. Stop worrying, I will guide you wherever am I. "  She caresses my cheek before finally succumbing to her death. I screamed as I mourn the death of my grandmother who raised me. The only person who shows me love and cared for me is now gone. I don't know where to start without her guidance. "Rest now, Nana. I love you." I gave her one last kiss before finally preparing her grave. I performed an incantation to turn her body into a flower. I know this is what my Nana wants, to be one with nature.  After crying for a while and resting for a bit. I decided to head my way. I don't know where I am going but I need to move forward. I don't have any place to go back to, besides no one wants me where I came from. I'm discriminated against for being a half Gamphir and half Belphir. After a couple of hours of walking around the forest, my hunger kicks in. I don't know where I am now but that is not important right now. I feed to eat, I may not die back there but I will probably die in hunger if I can't find something to eat. I look around to find some fruit to eat when I finally saw a tree full of fruits. I quickly run towards the tree, the moment I set my foot near the tree a big net falls to my head and scooped me above the ground. I quickly tried to free myself but its no use. "Well, well, well. What do we have here?" a man said using his baritone voice. "Is it an ogre, My lord?" I heard another voice but this time its small and squeaky. "Do I look like an ogre to you, dimwit?" I shouted at them. I can't see their faces clearly so I can say if their humans or not. "I can't see it clearly, My lord, maybe we should kill it first before letting it down. It sounds aggressive," said the small voice. "No need, Emji. I know what she is, ask the others for help and bring her to my place," said the man with the baritone voice. I can't see his face because of the net but he sounds like a human to me. I just hope I'm right about him being a human or I will be surely dead in no time. So much for getting something to it, huh?! **************
