Behind It All

383 Words
It’s been f****d up for the last few years, the last few months, the last few weeks, hell even in the last few days. Everything is changing, and I don’t know if I can keep up. So much has happened since god took you into his kingdom. The family grew apart. So we’re not close like we used to be and that’s something I don’t understand. Laying awake at night blaming myself for the reason why there are so many broken hearts. Lying to one another to save each other from worrying while the pain was still there. I guess what happens when you get good at acting is like we’ve got it together. Standing at a crossroads, spinning out of control, lost in the fire, oh Darlin, it’s a roller coaster that ends in endless wars with tears of sorrow. Everyone says they’re doing fine, but just like me, they’re questioning their strength. Saying they’re okay, but it’s to save themselves from explaining why they’re not. Breaking from the pressure of putting the grief aside, I don’t know how we’re going to make it as a team. Ooo, we never really healed from the pain of losing you. So pissed off at the world ‘cause we promised you, you wouldn’t go alone, a promise delivered empty. I can’t tell if we’re ever going to be a hundred because we weren’t given a chance to say goodbye. Being held by glue and band-aids, we lost faith in the journey. Doing whatever it takes to breathe through the day, I guess it’s okay since we haven’t seen the bottom of a bottle. Lighting up the cigarettes when the memories tear and all the regrets set in. Damn, we never healed from losing you. So pissed off at the world ‘cause we promised you, you wouldn’t go alone, a promise delivered empty. Fighting and being hateful when we need each other most probably put you to shame along with all the times we let you down. What can I do with broken pieces? Thinking about the times I took for granted being by your side. Yeah, we never really healed from the pain of losing you. So pissed off at the world because we promised we wouldn’t go alone, a promise delivered empty.
