Present, Mrs. Melnik raised one eyebrow at Jamie from the kitchen table. She grabbed a tiny ball of dough and flattened it with her fingers. Jamie slowly traced a circle with his eyeballs. His arms swung back and forth, clapping hands as they ended in front of him. The woman squinted at him and picked up another ball. Jamie leaned on the kitchen counter and cleared his throat. “Stop. Come. Seat.“ She pointed at the chair beside her. The man didn't question her orders. He brushed his fingers through his short brown hair, then pulled on the chair.
