CLICHE

Prologue

"Carter! Will you please hurry up? You cannot afford anymore tardies!" Carter's mom exclaimed from downstairs. 

Rolling her eyes, she replied, "Mom, I cannot afford anymore tardies because they are not for sell!" Yanking the door open, Carter marched to the end of the stairs to greet her Mother who stood impatiently. 

"We're rich! If tardiness was for sell then I could definitely afford it!" 

"Carter, I have always wondered how you made it to your senior year of high school?" Her mom mumbled but Carter heard, "Get to school. I will be late tonight, I have another case!" 

Carter grabbed her keys and jacket before turning towards her mom, "Another case? You're never home." 

"Someone has to bring the money in while you're spending it buying all of those expensive outfits." She teased while poking Carter's stomach. 

"Don't I look lovely?" She asked while twirling. 

"Always." 

Carter kissed her mom goodbye before running out the door and to the Red Jeep that belonged to her. She slammed the door closed before backing out of the driveway to the huge house and headed towards the school that she spent most of her time at. 

Finally arriving, Carter stepped out of the car and greeted her two friends. Ricky walked over towards her while checking her out while Cyndi had a book in her hand without paying attention to anything except the book. 

"What an outfit!" Ricky exclaimed, "I wish I could fit into that skirt!" 

"You can!"

"With these hairy legs?" Rickey asked before scoffing, "Please!" 

"Why don't you two focus on the calculus test that we have coming up?" Cyndi asked. 

"I'd rather not," Carter groaned, "Please!" 

"Take your head out of the clouds for once," Cyndi whispered to Carter as Carter rolled her eyes, "You need to pass calculus or you can say goodbye to graduation." 

"Fine," 

Cyndi smiles softly before slamming the book shut and linking her arm with Carter's. Carter smiled at her before linking her other arm with Ricky. 

"Ready for Physics?" She asked the two. 

"Please!" Cyndi cried out which caused them both to laugh. 

The three giggled before heading towards the building that was filling up with busy students.
