***A Year Later***
***Third Person's Point of View***
Nico had fully recovered from his near death experience and had hung his cape up for good. Emily had recovered from her shock and she too decided that it was time to step down as Blade. Allison followed Emily like a tail grateful for what Emily had sacrificed and by hanging out with Emily, she discovered a spark. Something about Jakk attracted her towards him and they became close friends until recently.
***Nico's Point of View***
Today is the day. I can not freak out now. It's too late. It's Emily's twentieth birthday and I just want to make sure everything goes perfect. I got everyone together including her old gang.
I had already picked out the perfect promise ring.
It is a silver band with red rubies in the form of a rose. I had asked her dad permission beforehand but if she turns me down in front of all the people I have no idea what I am going to do.
Our relationship has been rocky but we've overcome all of the trials together and that has me believing that we are meant to be together for now and for the rest of our lives.
A ringing has me pulled out of my thoughts and I answer without looking at caller ID. "Hey my superhero. How are you today?" Her voice immediately soothing away my worry and enveloping me in a cloud of peace. "Hey my vixen. I'm doing a lot better now that I'm hearing your voice. How are you?" I ask already knowing some what of the reply I'll be getting. "Tired. My mom and Ally have been dragging me from store to store looking for the perfect outfit. Then they dragged me to a spa and then to a salon. I haven't even had time to catch my breath until now." She huffs a breath before giggling. I laugh along and huff a sorry, knowing full well it was my doing. They set up a girls day so that I could get everything set up and ready.
"Emily..." I try to form the question but it gets stuck in my throat and I deviate. "I love you now and forever." "I will love you forever more, Nico. Is everything alright you sound edgy?" The concern in her voice breaks through. "Yes, everything has been great since I've gotten you back." I say genuinely meaning every word. She gives a nervous giggle and I know I made her blush. "I'm sorry, I have got to go the two terrors are looking for me." She giggles. Before I can reply I hear them walking into the room. "Oh, Emily. It's time for your make-up." They sing slightly and I hear her gulp. "SOS." She says playfully into the phone before the call is ended. Oh boy she's gonna want revenge...
***Blade's Point of View***
I was woken up early by my mom and Allison jumping on my bed like a bunch of children. I rolled my eyes at them and they laughed pulling me in a hug. "Guess who is twenty today." They sang in a singsong way and I laughed my bad mood vanishing. They yanked me up and towed me down to the kitchen where a stack of pancakes were waiting along with my dad. They sang happy birthday and then we gobbled down our food. If I was suspicious about their mood I was more so now. "Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask genuinely frightened. "We're having a girls day." They reply in perfect harmony with each other. I bolted up the stairs instantly locking my door. "I wanna stay home and have a lazy day." I whine. "Of course you do." Allison's voice replies bored. "Ally, don't be angry." "I'm not I want to treat you for a special day, pretty please." She begs and I sigh unlocking my door. She rushes in along with my mom and they are like two whirlwinds.
My mom getting my bath ready and Ally getting my outfit ready. I watched the two and sat on my bed out of the way. My mom rushes in and tells me that I can go and bathe. I get up walking towards the heavenly scented water and get in. The water helping me relax.
Soon I'm rushed out of the bath and into my outfit. My mom does my hair into a normal ponytail after all my protests. Before long they have me in the car and off to the mall. My mom and Allison going on about the best boutiques to find an outfit.
Something big was going to happen today and I wish someone could tell me what. I bite down on my teeth so that I can get a hold on my curiosity but it doesn't work. "What is happening today?" The two look at each other smile then reply, "Nothing."
Hours of walking and searching for the perfect outfit, we managed to find five. If that wasn't torture enough I was sent to a spa which I secretly enjoyed and then it was onto the salon. My mom had already had a plan for how my hair was to look. My hair had to be layered and curled so that the curls could come together in a messy plait. The hairstylist puts in fake diamond rose clips and a glitter hairspray. I walk ahead and pull out my phone, just wanting to hear Nico's voice.
We managed to talk until I got home. I attempted to lock my door but that didn't work because it was two bodies against one. I couldn't even ask Nico what the hell was going on, oh very clever.
Allison grabbed me and dragged me to the mirror where she had me seated on a chair. She then started her make-up process. I don't know how long we were sitting and standing before she smiled and said done. She did black eyeshadow with a silver line forming smoky eyes and red lipstick which left me with exactly one outfit to wear. The stealthy fox.
It was red laced dress with black fishnet stockings and my silver knee-length gladiator heels. Once everyone was happy with the way I looked they led me to the door. As I opened it I was met with red limousine in our driveway. My parents and Allison ushered me towards it and we all got in. My excitement and curiosity getting the best of me.
I took in every single detail up until we stopped at the hotel. Where we were met by a red carpet leading to the entrance. I was in awe. I stepped out and grabbed onto Ally for support, who was smiling brightly. "Wow." Was all I could say and she agreed. We walked to the door and one of the staff members opened it. "Ah, welcome Mademoiselle Emily. I'll escort you to the ballroom." He says in a French accent and Allison and I follow my parents behind us.
When we arrive I gasp standing in front of me is all of my old gang members that knew my identity and Nico himself. I smiled at him brightly taking in his attire.
Nico had a black tuxedo on with a black shirt and a red tie. He was wearing an outfit to suit me and the best part it brought out his eyes. I walked over to him carefully not wanting to trip. He smiled and pulled me into a hug. "Happy Birthday." He aims to kiss me and I dodge it with a smirk. "Payback." I whisper into his ear and walk off to greet everyone. I feel an arm link around my waist and when I look up at him he smirks back. "If you think it is so easy to resist me, then you'll have to do while we're close proximity." Did he just fire a counterattack? Oh, this is going to be interesting.
So the whole afternoon turned into Nico and I battling each other to prove our own points. He pulled me to the dance floor on a slow dance and it felt good to just be in his arms. My point disappeared and I pulled closer to him, standing on my tiptoes, I whisper a thank you into his ear. He smiles and spins me but as he spins me he drops my hand and I stop spinning with my back to him. When I turn around he is on one knee. I gasp and look around me. Everyone is surrounding us with smiles on their faces. "Emily, we've been best friends our entire lives that's how I know you want a life that is never dull. You want a fairy-tale marriage and the happy family. Emily, I can promise that to you now. I can promise that you will always be the queen of my heart. I promise to give you the fairy-tale marriage you deserve. I promise that we will have a happy family with some fights in between but happy none the less. Emily, with this promise ring, I promise to love you for as long as we both shall live." I look at him in shock before falling to the ground next to him and pulling him into a kiss. Everyone laughs and cheers. When we pull apart he smiles. "Yes that a yes?" "Yes it is a yes, you buffoon." We laugh before he pulls me into another kiss. One that shows all his love, gratitude and promise...

All in all the day was perfect everyone was happy and with the promise ring on her finger Emily couldn't be happier. Her happily ever after could finally start after all the chaos was gone, right?
