“Alpha we’ve caught a strange scent near the woods on the east side.” Jared, one of the Dark Crescent warriors says.
Alpha Alec Matthews immediately stops what he’s doing and ask, “Isn’t that near Dom’s house?” Jared nods and states, “Yes sir, but it was already too faint to start a search.” The Alpha just nods. Hmm that’s strange.
“Can you please call Beta Dominic and tell him to come to my office? It’s urgent so tell him to be quick.” Alec orders. The warrior nods then quickly exits the room.
‘Geez he ran so fast, maybe he thinks we’re going to eat him if he doesn’t follow orders quick enough.’ Derek, the Alpha’s wolf, jokes. Alec roll his eyes as his thoughts tune back to his past and how oddly enough his pack members are still waiting for the day that their current Alpha turns to be another version of his father, or possibly even worse than that.
It has been known by everyone that the late Alpha Andrew “Drew” Matthews was known as the most ruthless and very cold. The story behind it all was the tragic death of Alec’s older brother Andre. Andre was supposed to be the original Alpha of the pack, but on one of his missions during his training he got killed by a group of hunters, unfortunately the pack was never able to recover the body.
Since that day Alec’s father would take his anger out on pack members, seeing as he wasn’t emotionally stable with all the grief, he had bottled up inside. As days passed by Alec's father would spend most of his time locked up in his office looking for a trail of the hunters that killed his eldest son and of course his favorite son. Yes, being the middle child isn’t the greatest, in Alec’s opinion. He didn’t get much attention as his siblings did, even before Alexis, his younger sister, was born but that’s another story for another time.
Back to the original story of his father, after so many days locked up in his office, he finally found a trail. And that night, without a single guard or leaving at least a note, he just up and left. Days before his departure, he would lock himself away from the world, refusing to eat which caused him to grow weak. On about the third day into his journey to kill the hunters caused him great suffering, he was caught and tortured by a pack of rogues.
They at least did the pack and Alpha family a favor of returning the body...in well pieces. Alec’s mother was devastated, and Lexi was much worse. Since she was blindsided by being named “daddy’s little warrior princess” somehow it made her think that she had the right to get revenge all by herself with no support or back-up. But Alec was lucky enough to stop her or at least that’s what he thought at the time until they both noticed that they were spotted by rogues, before they could smell their presences. Another thing Alec couldn’t detect was that his mother followed them and as he tried to fight off a few rogues, one tried to get him from behind, but his mother attacked first. Alec and Alexis’ mother grew weak from the death of her mate but surprisingly to at least distract the rogue until Alec finished with the one, he was fighting to kill the one his mother attacked.
Since that day his sister has been feeling nothing but guilty for trying to get revenge which almost got not only her killed but their mother too. Days went by as their mom grew more and more depressed until she just couldn’t take it anymore. One of the helpers in the pack house found her unconscious on the bathroom floor, she supposedly had a heart-attack, but no pack doctor found the cause or how it happened or well anything
From that day on nothing has ever been the same, Lexi has been showing her rebel side a lot as Alec has been trying his best to keep her in check and safe, while of course maintaining focus on his Alpha duties. He doesn’t want to be like his father and hopes to never experience what his mother had to sustain. But Alec us fortunate enough to have his best friend and Beta by his side.
In Alec’s opinion, Dominic is the one that keeps him grounded and because of all the miraculous things Dom does, Alec has that feeling of debt, like he owes Dom his life. He will forever be in his debt.
“Hey Alec, Jared informed me that you needed to talk, urgently?” Dom enters like nothing unusual has happened.
‘Geez speak of the devil and he shall appear.’ Derek snickers. Sometimes the Alpha wonders if the Moon Goddess is punishing him with a sick kind of humor seeing that he has an abnormal spirit for a wolf, that really loves dad jokes and that he sadly has to share a body with. You can almost hear Alec sighing in exasperation and ignoring his inner being.
“Well Jared was here earlier and informed me that a strange scent was found near your house. Care to explain that?” Alec states, raising an eyebrow. Dom sighs then sits down on one of the chairs in front of the Alpha’s desk.
“I don’t know what happened, I mean I felt someone in my room but I couldn’t pick up a scent. It almost felt like I was under some kind of trance or maybe even a weird spell. Then I had this really weird dream last night…” Dom sighs yet again and runs a hand through his hair in frustration. “What was your dream about?” His Alpha physically asks but in reality it is a worried best friend.
“Um….well I think it’s best we don’t discuss that topic…” The young Beta mumbles softly but because of their efficient werewolf hearing the young Alpha was able to capture what his Beta said.
“And why not?” The Alpha asks, curious to know why Dom is suddenly being so secretive towards not only his Alpha of course, but also his best friend.
“It was a very interesting dream that I think I’ll just keep to myself but I mean INTERESTING.” He replies while giving Alec a certain type of look. It took Alec a minute or so to finally understand what Dom is trying to say.
“Ah never mind I don’t want to know about it anymore.” Alec says, while mentally shivering in disgust at the thought of his best friend having a bit too much fun, if catch my drift. But before they could continue the conversation at hand, Dom jumps up and says, “Sorry but I have errands to do and training. Talk to you later.” Then runs out.
‘What am I going to do with him? There must be a reason behind all of this madness. And I might know where to start to get the right answers.’ Alec reflects to himself.

Meanwhile in Blue Moon Territory…
“Katrina!!! Where have you been?!?!?!” The young Beta, Casey yells as her Alpha tries to tip-toe her way up the stairs of the pack house. Alpha Katrina sighs dramatically then makes her way down the stairs, towards her Beta and fortunately the one person that has been there for her throughout everything.
“I went out for a run.”
“And……” Casey knew there was something Kat was keeping possibly classified information from her.
“And nothing. Look Casey I’m tired and I just want to go to bed. Good night.” Kat immediately runs up the stairs before Casey could utter another word. Her actions were quite suspicious in Casey’s opinion.
“Where is Alpha Katrina?” Jake, one of the trackers of the pack asks.
“She just went to bed. Why? What do you need?” The Beta replies exasperated.
“Because word has gone out that some warriors from Dark Crescent caught a strange scent in the east part of their territory. Luckily it was already faint when they searched the area otherwise, they would’ve got suspicious and possibly land on our territory.” He explains nervously.
“What is going on here?!” Casey asks in frustration.
