Chapter 2

747 Words
It seems like the run that Dom decided to take was longer than he expected, but luckily not long enough where he missed breakfast. He made it right on time actually, seeing as his mother is trudging around in the kitchen. The first thing he does once he enters the kitchen is to grab a water bottle out of the fridge then sit on one of the bar stools that are available in the kitchen. “Honey are you ok? You seemed a bit restless when I passed your room earlier and I had a feeling you just came back from run to possibly clear your head, something you seem to be doing a lot lately. You also seem on the edge, I’m here to listen to whatever you need to get off your chest. It’s a mother’s duty.” His mother asks worriedly while making breakfast. “Nothing’s wrong Mom, I just had this strange dream last night and I felt this strange presence earlier on my run. It was most likely nothing though, probably the stress like usually, it’s just getting to me that’s all.” His mother accidentally drops the spatula she has in her hand but not even a second later she picks it up, cleans it of course and continues cooking as if nothing happened. “Well honey if you’re sure that it’s the stress you need to stop overworking yourself.” She replies reassuringly. ‘Hmm the way mom reacted is a bit suspicious don’t you think?’ Leo comments. As Dom was about to ask what was wrong because she would usually keep insisting until she got some real answers, but he gets interrupted. ‘Dom, we need you in the north side we think that someone entered our territory.’ Ben, one of the trackers informs Dominic through their mind link. ‘OK I’ll be there in 10.’ “Hey Mom, I got to go I just got informed that Ben and some others think that someone entered the territory without permission.” He quickly finishes his breakfast. He gives his mother a small kiss on her forehead and as soon as he gets outside, he shifts to run to the north side of the territory right at the edge of the waterfall. The reason why Dominic is in contact with the trackers of the pack is because he’s the Beta of the Dark Crescent Pack. It might seem like a bit of a shocker because the real question is, does he fit the part? Well here’s the answer, you don’t choose your destiny, your destiny chosen for you. What does that exactly mean? Well that just means Dominic from birth was destined to be the Beta of Dark Crescent and was trained for the part at least physically, the mental part he unfortunately was all on his own, since the old Beta wasn’t around to give him right guidance in that aspect. In other words, his father abandoned his mother and him when he was about 3, he got fortunate enough to be trained by the former Alpha and Third in Command. From generation to generation every male member of Dominic’s family once become Beta so it’s like a life job with no retirement date unless you have heirs quick enough. And that doesn’t mean that females couldn’t be Betas either, on the contrary there are many Female Betas, the reason behind the Betas of Dark Crescent is that throughout generations of existence there has never been a Female Beta, at least for now. Deep down Dom feels like he might not have the confidence now to show his true power but soon enough everything is going to change, it’s still not determined if that change will be good or bad, it’s just about waiting for the right moment. “Beta Dom we smell a strange scent around this area.” Ben states. “Let’s have a look around to see if whatever it is, is gone and never coming back.” Beta Dom instructs. “Mi Cariño... come back to me...” A soft whisper that was faintly heard through the wind, but oddly enough Dominic was the only one that could hear it.
